Garnets are a versatile and traditional Sri Lankan gemstone that comes in a variety of hues. The most famous of the garnet family is the Red Garnet, with its deeply saturated purple and red tones. The rich palette of garnet colours come in Red, green, orange, pinkish orange and at times even blue. Although red garnets are abundantly found, garnets such as Tsavorites, spessartine and Rhodolite are more rare.

The Hope Diamond, a renowned member of the rare blue diamond family, derives its name from its past owner, Henry Philip Hope, dating back to the 17th century. Initially weighing 112 carats, expert diamantaires meticulously cut and recut the diamond over time, resulting in its final 45.42-carat form, valued at over $250 million.

Notable past owners include Louis XIV, Abdulhamid II, and renowned jewelry designer Pierre Cartier. The diamond's last purchaser, New York jeweler Harry Winston, subsequently donated it to the Smithsonian Institute, where it now resides as a part of the museum's permanent collection. Beyond its impressive size and color, the Hope Diamond is distinguished by its remarkably intense and strongly colored luminescence.

December birthstones are a sea of blue, the Tanzanite, Blue Zircon and Turquoise. All three December stones take on a beautiful shade of blue.

The stunning Turquoise has a mix of blue and green tones with veins of matrix running through it. The gemstone is thought to possess the power of good health and fortune.

The Tanzanite is a fairly recently discovered gemstone and boasts rich hues of blue and violet. The deep and velvety look of a Tanzanite makes it a stunning addition to jewellery pieces.

The Zircon is a versatile addition to the trio of December birthstones and comes in various colours. The December birthstone was known to ward off evil spirits and protect the user.

The Eye of the Lion is a world-famous Cats Eye that was discovered in Pelmadulla, Sri Lanka on the land of a famous aristocratic lady.

The staggering Cats Eye was over carats as a rough stone and was shaped by one of the most famous gem cutters of the time from Ratnapura. The final product was a spectacular 465 Carat cabochon Cats Eye thus being one of the largest cut stones in the world.
