The Blues Shack's goal during its time on air was to present the very best, and widest ranging selection of Blues Music from around Australia. Each week Mark Mayle, Terry Murphy and Ray presented the latest release Australian Blues albums, a monthly run-through of the top 10 albums on the Blues Roots Album airplay Chart, with artists interviews, a weekly gig guide, MBAS updates, Blues news, and wa
s renowned for presenting live performances of new and up and coming local and touring interstate artists. The team were directly involved with the inception of a new Blues Festival on the Peninsula, called "The Blues At The Briars". The team, in support of the new Festival, initially presented live to air, every artist that were to be perform at the very first festival. These live performances were broadcast from the studios of RPPFM each week during the 10 weeks prior to the inaugural Festival, with a final broadcast the week before the start of the festival featuring performances by Fiona Boyes, Geoff Achison, Jimi Hocking and Shannon Bourne, culminating in a jam together. The team then broadcast the event live to air for a further three years under the Blues Shack Banner. On the 22nd of June 2015, The Blues Shack team travelled to Canberra to present a program "live to air" from the Canberra Blues Club, featuring Ally Penney and members of the CBC, to its Melbourne and National audience, a first for a Community Based Radio program. On the 14th of November 2016, Ray and his partner went on the road once again to broadcasted the Blues Shack radio show live-to-air from the Global Music Revolution at Klemzig in South Australia. This event gave four ARBA member blues acts including the "The Associates", the unique opportunity to have their live performances broadcasted to a Victorian audience. The Blues Shack ended transmission in June 2017 just prior to Ray moving to Traralgon where he presented a new program "The Australian Blues Experience" on Gippsland FM from 2018 - 2021. Mark Mayle and Terry Murphy continued to support the local music industry through their program "Sunday Sessions " with live interviews and performances by local artists.
