We simply want to show the world how beautiful we Ethiopians are. We live in an era of unparallel information flow and exchange. Events are unfolding rapidly; stories are reported instantly while the public is craving for more. On one hand, society’s growing appetite for more and instant information is pushing innovation to a new frontier. Innovation in turn has made information easily accessible
to the public. On a related note, advancement and easy accessibili
ty of information technology has given power to an individual. This has led to the creation of plethora of individually run websites and blogs. As a consequence now more information is being exchanged through such sources than by main stream media. The net effect of all these is an empowerment of individuals to observe, create and disseminate crucial ideas and thoughts to the wider public. It is also worth noting that, the global disparity of information exchange, both in quantity and quality. Some parts of the world are fortunate to have relatively well balanced coverage and distribution of events whereas others have been lagging well behind. This disparity could have never been more pronounced than it is in Africa in general and Ethiopia in particular. That means there is a pressing need to rapidly fill the information gap between the region in question and the rest of the world. It is with this fact and urgent need that we have decided to start a blog site whose main objective is to provide accurate and balanced information on wider topics relevant to the region. It is recognized that such information sources must actively engage audiences, rather than consider them as mere information receptors. In short we recognized a need for a platform where social, cultural, historical, political, etc issues will be addressed in proper and balanced manner. We are of the opinion that most of the existing websites and blogs that deal with the issues of our region are designed in such away that the site owner sets and controls the tone of discussions. As well, most of the existing website and blogs are designed and operated in a polarized way so as to advance specific idea or belief whereas criminalizing opposing views and opinions. There is an urgent need for a common platform where opposing views and opinions will be discussed cordially. We also recognized a need for platform where fundamental control of information flow and exchange should be given to the audience than to sites owners. Therefore, it is with this conviction and belief that we have decided to establish The Sheba post, a blog site that will provide fundamental platform to the wider audience to share and discuss many of the pressing issues. The Sheba Post will be hosting different topics covering wider issues in the forms of current news, history, culture, socio-economics, art and entertainment, politics and more. These will be accomplished through editorials, invited articles and interview of prominent individuals who are experts and have thorough knowledge and understanding of the region. The Sheba Post is not affiliated with any political or religious group as well we will not promote any single political or religious view. Rather it is intended to be a common platform for diverse views and opinions. In this regard The Sheba Post will feature any form of articles and opinions as long as they are not demeaning, offensive and disrespectful to others. As the Queen of Sheba was and still is the most revered, powerful and loved Queen equally in Ethiopia, Africa, Middle East and the rest of the world; The Sheba Post is hoped to provide that levelling field to all without favouring any particular view or opinions. It is our strong belief that The Sheba Post will contribute its share towards positive development through exchange of idea and information.
