Closer to Charleston than Morgantown, this gem of a venue in Blacksburg has some great multicultural and international programming. This season is great. Mariza from Portugal playing fado is a highlight for me, but there are multiple shows that seem really awesome.

This is sad. Tinariwen are legendary.

For reasons beyond our control, all Tinariwen members and their tour manager’s US visa applications have been under administrative processing for more than a month. Everything has been tried to expedite the process and reorganize dates to buy some time but there is now no other choice than to cancel the whole North American tour, which will hopefully be rescheduled as soon as the horizon brightens.

I'm proud to have worked with Mayor Goodwin and her staff on her proclamation in support of the people of Ukraine as well as the people in our Sister City of Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, who have done so much to help Ukrainian refugees. Next month, Larry Groce and The Carpenter Ants will visit Banska Bystrica as a part of a cultural exchange and will deliver the proclamation to officials there. The proclamation is being announced at the Monday, June 6, 2022, meeting of City Council.

Emmett is doing the Ration Challenge -- a way to raise money to help refugee resettlement, hunger, and other important issues. Please consider donating! If he raises enough money, he will, for a week, eat the rations that a Syrian refugee would get in a camp in Jordan. His goal is to raise $906 -- enough to cover four refugees' rations for a year.
