Few artists have faced as much backlash as Ben Vereen, star of stage and screen, who performed a tribute to legendary vaudevillian Bert Williams—the first Black actor to appear on Broadway—at Ronald Reagan’s inaugural gala in 1981.
Vereen’s act is the subject of the play “Until, Until, Until…” (2015) created and directed by conceptual artist Edgar Arceneaux and co-written by Kurt Forman.
On stage at Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago October 17-19.
