it's a very big day over here at exploding in sound records.

we're unbelievably thrilled to announce the reissue of Grass Is Green's seminal debut album "Yeddo," on vinyl for the first time ever. pick one up for Bandcamp Friday (or get one when you catch them live in January). it is a very limited pressing and will not be around forever.

this is one of the most important albums in the world to us over here at EIS and we know everyone is going to love it (if you don't already).

we also brought back some classic EIS tee shirt and hoodie designs! also over at bandcamp for this fine bandcamp friday.

lastly but also very exciting, it's time for the EIS 2024 sampler. Nine solid gold hits. We're so incredibly proud of our bands and the music we have the privilege to release. check it out.

Thirdface really did their thing and it sounds absolutely incredible. Some of the heaviest and most inventive music we've heard in a long time and it's beyond our wildest expectations. WHAT A BAND!! "Sour Widows cite Big Thief’s 2019 double feature U.F.O.F. and Two Hands and Nirvana’s Nevermind as major influences on their long-anticipated debut album Revival of a Friend, and if you can picture the exact middle ground between those two things, it might actually sound something like this album. Sour Widows tap into the spacious, pastoral indie folk of the former, and even their most delicate moments often build to clamorous climaxes that echo the latter. (This is also to say that Revival of a Friend is also sort of like if Big Thief made an entire album like “Not.”) Multiple songs hover around the six-minute mark, and the epic closer “Staring Into Heaven/Shining” is over eight minutes; this is an album that likes to take you on a journey time and time again and the payoff is always worth it. Speaking about the single, Miranda shared:

"Now That I'm a Woman is a cover of a song from one of the greatest movies ever made -- The Last Unicorn. When Molly Grue meets the unicorn she says, "Where were you twenty years ago, ten years ago? How dare you, how dare you come to me now, when I am this?" For me, this is a song about coming to terms with life and commiserating (with Lady Amalthea, you know, the unicorn transformed and trapped in the body of a mortal woman). I recorded this song when I was especially sick because I like the sound of a heavy vocal fold.”
