We are a community organization dedicated to connecting diners with restaurants in Pierce County. The founder is Sue Kidd, the former dining columnist and food editor of The News Tribune from 2004 to 2019. Sue spent her entire journalism career connecting diners with local restaurants. She managed the TNT Diner digital website (thenewstribune.com/tnt-diner) where she wrote stories, reviews and profiles of restaurants and food businesses. The purpose of Dine Pierce County is to promote a broadening of the community palate and to encourage diners to explore dining neighborhoods in the far reaches of Pierce County. Did you know there are five outstanding taquerias along a one-mile stretch of East 72nd between South Park Avenue and Portland Avenue East? Did you know the Lincoln District is the neighborhood in Tacoma with the highest concentration of Vietnamese restaurants? Did you know that there are 20 Korean restaurants and grocery stores located on and around South Tacoma Way in Lakewood? Those are the kinds of dining tips you’ll find in Where to Dine-Pierce County, the Facebook group, and on this community page, Dine Pierce County. My mission:

1. Encourage diners to get out of their comfort zones and explore neighborhoods and restaurants they might otherwise never visit. My focus is on locally grown restaurants, not chains. Your local dining dollars can do so much good. By spending your dining dollars on locally grown/founded businesses, you are helping boost your local economy.

2. To eventually raise money and support organizations that focus on feeding those in need.
