Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, says international communities will not respect Nigeria because of the “characters” leading the country.

Mr Obi spoke about how Nigerians are disrespected in other countries in a Twitter space on Saturday. “They cannot respect us where we are today; they cannot respect us because of the characters in charge of our country,” said Mr Obi, a former governor of Anambra.

“All of us politicians have failed the country. Highlighting how independent journalist, David Hundeyin, was recently denied entry into Zimbabwe, Mr Obi said he had a similar experience where he was disrespected in another country for being a Nigerian.

Mr Obi emphasised that for Nigerians to earn respect abroad, political leaders must be committed to good governance and respecting citizens.

“All I’m saying is that this passport will be great; it requires us to do the right thing. To earn respect, you have to put your house in order.

Nigerian students full of gratitude as FG approves provision of buses for students, others.

In furtherance of his desire to ease the burd£n of the fuel subsidy removal on students of higher institutions of learning, President Bola Tinubu has approved provision of buses to the students' bodies of all universities, polytechnics & colleges of education across the country.

This was revealed in a statement on July 31st, 2023. “The desire of the President is to see that students can access their campuses without much diffic¥lty as a result of higher transportation costs.

The provision of the buses will also remove the burd£n of additional cost of daily commuting on parents and guardians.

In line with his promise to ensure no Nigerian student abandons his or her educational pursuits as a result of lack of money and economic circumstances of their parents, President Tinubu has also approved the removal of all restrictions on the students' loan to make it available to any student or household that may desire it.
