Happy Friday and hope everyone has an exciting weekend planned on the water or at Carolina Country Music Fest. We are gonna be on the water in the Key West Boats 250 Bay from Marshalls Marine. We are gonna have some friends from Judy Boone's Family Kitchen on the boat and are gonna make a little contest out of it! We are gonna test out live versus artificial in the two hours on air and hope that our guests get plenty of action from flatfish or reds. We will also have a recap of last weeks tourney and all the fun we had down at Hidden Marina & Campground. Let's hear your thoughts on our contest tomorrow. What is gonna out perform the other!!! Live or artificial?????

Coming in hot on Gator 107.9 at 8am!! The Crew have made their way to Georgetown for the Hooked on Habitat inshore slam tourney! Thanks to all the sponsors and our good friend Jacob Rigopoulos for making this event possible. We are all staying at Hidden Marina Campground just up the river from blast off!! The crew have brought 3 teams and we are hoping to catch some fish and enjoy some great times over the weekend! This weeks show is full of incredible fishing reports and lots of great tips. What a busy day on the water!! From the ICW to the back creeks and popular beaches all along the Strand, boaters were out in the droves today. We ventured out to get away from the crowds and try to find a man in the brown suit. We never found one school of pogies running south for 6 to 8 miles and decided to turn and head out to check some reefs! Ended up at 10 mile reef with about 25 others and decided to try and get a sure thing with some spades. After nearly 2 1/2 hours of torture watching several schools on the surface and lots on Livescope we managed to persuade a few in to coming to take a grease bath. Managed to trick 5 into falling for some Inlet Rocks Bait & Tackle squid strips. With a bum arm I suffered through one battle with my personal best of 8.85. Then a few minutes later my partner Russ Russ had a duel with a 10.28 trash can lid! We could not get the fish to come to a teaser or even close to the boat. we ended up catching all 5 over 40 to 50ft away from the boat. I still say that a big spade on light tackle is as good a fight as you can ask for. Had one straighten out a #2 Kahle. Was not the normal number or bites you would prefer chasing a school of spades but a fair trade out in quality! It's always a privilege to introduce people to our sport! But it's a lot more special to get over 250 kids on a lake with no cell phones or electronics and turn them lose with a Zebco and some worms! Lots of smiles and tight lines and lots of great stories from these kids, young and old!!

It's almost time!! One of our favorite days of the year!!!!

We are excited to announce the annual Take-A-Kid-Fishing rodeo will be on May 11th at 8 Oaks Park in Georgetown (6610 Highmarket Street). Private fishing for children & adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities will start at 8am. Public fishing will start at 9:00am. This event is free, rods and bait will be available for use. We look forward to seeing everyone!

It's been a crazy week on the water along the Grand Strand. Sturgeon caught, 40 plus pound king mackerel, giant black drum, bull reds, schools of big pogies, and much more for just the middle of April. We gonna be moving the Sparks Toyota Tundra studio to the water this weekend to chase some flounder and do some scouting out for next weekends Grand Strand Saltwater Anglers Association flounder tourney. Capt Fred, Capt E, The Bassmaster, and Mr Green Jeans will be on the Key West Boats 250 Bay from Marshalls Marine. Lots of baits available at all our partners including Perry's Bait & Tackle, Inlet Rocks Bait & Tackle, Waccamaw Outfitters, Irby Street Sporting Goods, and Pawleys Island Outdoors. Our prayers continue for the family of Jeff Kale and we hope everyone takes precautions and makes sure you are prepared for anything that can happen on your trips offshore as the season is upon us. We will also have an update on the Georgetown Meatfish Slam standings.

Was thinking that the schools of bonitos, spanish, and blues may not show up very clear as they are moving so fast and furious. Was far from the case when we put the Garmin LiveScope to work at Paradise Reef. We were on top of the cement barge in this video and as you can tell they almost look like swarms of bees moving around chasing bait sub-surface. There were not many if any up top feeding but this little video shows exactly how many fish are actually out there right now!! YES, that's a fish being reeled in at about :25! We continue to pray that the missing boater is found and we pray for comfort for his family and friends. Please be safe on your trips offshore this spring and remember to file a float plan with a good friend or family before heading out.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Jeff Kale of NC. We hope and pray that he is still found alive. Mr Kale was an experienced angler and had spent hundreds of hours on the water. We all have to respect the ocean and realize that at any moment a routine trip can turn bad. Please refrain from too many negative comments but, how many of you have attempted a Gulf Stream trip alone in any sized boat. We just feel that too many things can happen that are not under anyone's control and without a second person an innocent mistake becomes a loss of life.
Continue to pray that he is found and remember to file your float plan with a friend or family member before heading offshore!
