A photo from our home library this evening. The ceiling was already painted yellow when we moved in and we decided to keep it because it's so sunny ☀️

There are approximately 1200 titles in this room with another 800 dotted around the house. Our collection feels like a 5th member of the family! Do you hang onto books or do you prefer to keep a small stock?

Richmond is so charming that we've decided to linger for a while. Visiting The Alligator's Mouth Children's Bookshop 🐊 involves a tiny bit of exploration but once you find this imaginative retreat, you'll just have to buy a book or two.

The is run by a team of expert booksellers including a former teacher, an illustrator and an academic specialising in children's literature. We're dreaming of a return visit 💭

We're always open to new bookish journeys so we were thrilled when our friend Josiah invited us to chat on his podcast 🎧

We cover lots of subjects in our discussion - current reads, how we met (working for a publishing house), childhood reading habits & bookish photography. We recorded this on Zoom so there may be a YouTube version eventually!

Often photographed for good reason, The Open Book in Richmond is much bigger than it looks and the book selection is superb 🌟

If you're visiting London, we highly recommend making the journey to this attractive town to walk by the river, eat & drink + of course, stock up your library. The Kew Gardens estate is also nearby 🌿

📚Let's go to Cogito Books in Hexham today 📚

I have a real soft spot for this cosy bookshop because a) it has a welcoming atmosphere, b) it's dog-friendly and c) has a fantastic position right next to Hexham Abbey. Needless to say it also sells a great range of books!

It's an absolute treat to explore Peak Volumes in the village of Tideswell. Filled with intriguing nooks and doorways (it was a bank in a former life), this secondhand also sells antiquarian books, cards & sweets 🍬🍭🍫
