Global Health: Science and Practice (GHSP) is intended to be a resource for public health professionals who design, implement, manage, evaluate, and otherwise support health programs in low- and middle-income countries. GHSP fills an important gap in the scholarly literature for evidence and experience from global health programs implemented under real-world conditions, with specifics on the “how”

of implementation—lessons and detail that are often buried in gray literature or not documented at all. It is published quarterly (March, June, September, December). The journal is published by the Knowledge SUCCESS led by Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs and funded by USAID.

Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen systems are more complicated than oxygen concentrators but can generate a much greater volume of medical oxygen and serve a network of hospitals, increasing regional supply. Direct feedback from hospital workers collected during the COVID-19 pandemic provided strong validation and reinforcement of the need for new oxygen supplies to be accompanied by investments in transportation, clinical and technical training, and provision of equipment and supplies.

In primary health care settings in Uzbekistan, large-scale implementation of brief interventions—a validated set of questions providers ask and a brief conversation—to address behavioral risk factors (such as alcohol use, to***co use, poor diet, and inactivity) of noncommunicable diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes) is limited by a lack of human resources, a supportive system, and clear incentives for clinicians.
