We are taking submissions for September/October.

The theme is University Days.

It's that time of year for those in the northern hemisphere, and we'd love to hear your stories from your time at university.

We'd love to have stories about friendships, struggles, or funny stories demonstrating transition.

We also would love to hear from the Global South. Share from your own university days OR that "in-between" time before you started university.

For those who took a GAP year or decided to go a different route than university, We'd also enjoy hearing from you.

New members joining our ATCK group need to hear your stories.

If you happen to have something to share or know someone, please follow the directions below.

Submitting is easy. Use this submission form: https://forms.gle/27a1KQqpkvY3iJ9w5

You can also find the link in our bio.

We look forward to hearing from you!

"As Adult Third Culture Kids (ATCKs), our identities are rich tapestries woven
from the threads of various cultures and languages. Embracing what I call a "Not
Only But Also" mentality is essential for appreciating the full spectrum of our
multifaceted identities. This mindset enables us to value the complexities of who
we are, fostering an inclusive outlook that acknowledges and celebrates our diverse
backgrounds."
~ Ute Limacher-Riebold

Pulling from the archives, this poem by Ellen Michelle Beard was first published in the December 2021 issue.

"Silver Thread" is a poem about the thin but strong link from one place to another. To read the full poem, follow this link:

Has anyone told you your plan to move to a new country was crazy?

As ATCKs it's not crazy at all. It may seem simple and exciting but can still be laced with hard things.

Check out this poem by Elizabeth H**p, which highlights how easy it can be to plan a trip like this.

Her last four lines are my favorite. Read them slowly. This is where I see ampersand. I see that train of thought as both a benefit and a challenge.

What are your thoughts on this poem? Check it out at this link. https://amongworlds.interactionintl.org/its-not-a-crazy-plan-i-promise/

Then come back and share with us in the comments.

We start off the theme of "Ampersand" with "There and Back Again - an MK tale" by Hannah Clark Maynard.

"While I may have never fought a dragon or been swept away by a magical wizard, I find many similarities between Bilbo and the MK experience."
Hannah Clark Maynard

"Stories locked away and hidden destroy the creativity of the soul. They dismantled mine. Is it possible to reignite the childhood fire of delight and joy?"
~ Joy Smalley ( )

We are taking submissions for July/August.

The theme is Ampersand.
We know that the life is both good and hard, simple yet complex, joyful and heartbreaking.

We are looking for stories, articles, poems, or other art forms that portray this idea of what can be known as the "ampersand life."

"For most of us, childhood is a mixed bag – some good, some bad, a few great moments, and a few terrible moments. If your story was wonderful, it doesn’t mean people who had difficult experiences are anomalies or lying. If your story was difficult, it doesn’t mean people with good stories don’t exist. Every story is valid and valuable. Every story is part of the tapestry of what makes up the TCK world, and every voice matters."

This week shares about new research and why it's important.

"In October 2023, a gathering of 200+ people, along with 100+ more people registered online, met for five days to attend a conference near and dear to many of you. A conference where many found their “tribe” or reconnected with friends from the past. It was the International Third Culture Kid Conference (ITCKC).

This conference was unlike any previous conferences focusing on MKs/ TCKs. It was unique in several ways, but notably in its diversity: people gathered from 70 countries; 344 attended, with 110 people representing the Global South from that number. Those planning this event were “overjoyed” and “overwhelmed.” But who was behind all of this?"

To read more about this, plus the three themes cultivated from our recent survey about the conference, click on the link below.
