I've only just recently heard about Sy Quosh (DJ SY) announcing his retirement from DJing.

I'm genuinely gutted, as this is one of the guys who provided many a mix within the many Happy Hardcore "Tape Cassette Packs" I used to listen to during my Teen years. Every year as part of my pre High School (then college) ritual, I'd have a brand new (or newish) sony walk man with extra sets of ear phones (in a seperate bag to my school/college bag). Complete with the latest Vibealite & HelterSkelter rave tape packs and the 1st mix I'd always listen to would be that of DJ Sy.

A lot of people will primarily comment about his scratching or the tracks he played (throughout the eras). The one thing I always remember about a DJ, is the energy the DJ portrays through thier choice of tracks during thier set(s).

I've only been privileged to see him play a handfull of times, and all have lived up to expectations. He's been a DJ who shaped my education & excitement around the (and in some form or another as a dj), and I can believe that he's been an influence to many a seasoned raver & DJ within the Hardcore scene.

From what I've heard, his decision to hang up his headphones has been made for health reasons. Regardless of this Sy, I'd encourage you to enjoy retirement knowing that you've been a positive influence to many within the dance music world.
