Temper Tantrum VS No Means No
Hello, Prowers County Taxpayers! Guess who is paying for this nonsense? YOU.
The hour Rose sat there, the time of your administrator, all of the things your commissioners COULD have been spending time on to make your lives betterâŠcha-Ching.
But, letâs entertain the published Coroner letter (sections in quotes) with a Newtie OPINION:
âFirstly the fact that the Commissioners invited these peopleâŠâ
Thank God for transparency. Thank God people are participating in their government. But really, you invited the news to live stream the meeting. Wasnât that like inviting the entire universe? So, it would seem like you approve of an audience only if you choose it. đ€Ą
â-
ââŠand gave them so much information on an active death case is disgusting.â
Under § 30-10-601, autopsy reports are public record. I didnât hear anything that one could not find in an autopsy report. There was no release of PHI of any sort.
â-
âThis is not the first time these people have been called to a public meeting.â
Welcome to life as an elected official. Actually, every citizen is invited for every meetingâŠitâs called the public notice. Again, this seems okay if you invited them.
ââ
âThere was no delay caused by this situation.â
Was there a delay when you took the time to call the commissioners and tell them to pick up the body? It seems like you openly admitted to delaying arriving on the scene as you sought a solution to you working over 20 hours.
â-
âI have been donated for free a transport van from a neighboring county.â
No, no, no. The BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS had a van donated to them. The board retains possession of all county property. Was the neighboring county willing to pay for the maintenance and the insurance indefinitely? Yeah, didnât think so. This is a fiscal decision. The board makes all fiscal decisions, even for other elected officers. You canât control a budget if you have one elected office, such as yours, doing rogue spending.
â-
ââŠbut the commissioners said no for no apparent reason.â
Just because you donât understand the reason doesnât mean it doesnât exist. đ Additionally, a reason was provided during the meeting.
â-
âThis case did not tie up EMS, law enforcement or anyone else. So for the commissioners to twist it this way was again, disgusting.â
Incorrect. The audience member stated this, not the commissioners. The commissioners actually became quiet when the lady brought this up, so are you calling a citizen disgusting? đ€
ââ
âThe commissioners have not even entertained the idea.â (Of a full time coroner.)
They listed the meetings where this was discussed and the fiscal, legal, and administrative research invested into the matter. This cost money to do. It sounds like they provided fact based information into why they made their decision to keep the position part time and how they provided adequate financial backing for the job to be performed by those working under the direction of the coroner.
â-
âLegislation has said our county should be full time but left it to our County Commissioners to decide.â
Thatâs not what it says. It provided an option to the commissioners. Itâs not a legal directive.
â-
âI do not feel it is up to the commissioners to decide.â
Legally it is, no matter what you feel.
ââ
âThe commissioners by statute only have to work 2 days a month and are paid full time wages, the Coroners Office by statute has to provide coverage 24-7.â
Oooh, wee Tommy. Please. Sit.
If the commissioners only worked two days a month, things would fall apart really fast. In fact, if they ever decided to check out after 40 hours in a week, stuff would fall apart. Being a commissioner is, indeed, a 24/7 job. They have a never-ending list of duties and obligations, and the moment something goes wrongâŠthey get the call. Who did you call when you were refusing to respond? Yeah. A commissioner. See how that works? Do you think youâre the only one who calls them on nights and weekends? Bwahahaha. No. And while your job is important, try orchestrating assets and assistance when the county has a wildfire, floodâŠtheir list is way longer than yours.
â-
âThis clearly states the Commissioners can change the status of part time to full time. â
Yeah, in two years. Do we need to hear you cry about it for two years? Worse yet, do we have to pay to hear this whining? Suck it up, buddy. Youâre part time. You donât like it? Resign.
â-
âWhen one of our County Commissioners, Wendy Buxton-Andrade does not even live in this countyâŠâ
Prove it. Whatâs her driverâs license say? Where does she receive mail? Youâre deflecting. You arenât going to win this battle, so maybe stop harassing her.
â-
âThere is never any public input or attendance to commissioner meetings.â
But⊠you just complained about people coming and you seemed to convince the media to come easily enough. Is it only important to you to get the media there when you want your own way? Well, that seems like tinder for the harassment fire.
ââ
Listen, Tommy. I know this stinks for you, but you arenât going to win this battle and making everyone as miserable as you for the next 18 months will only cost the taxpayers money.
Furthermore, this is yet another example of special interest folks asking over and over and over againâŠand harassingâŠelected officials into changing their minds. There are lots of examples throughout the valley. No doesnât mean no here. It means push until I break them so I get my way. This needs to change.
