La Junta Coulcilperson Lisa P posted a diatribe (obviously penned by another ) detailing why YOU aren’t entitled to know what grocery store is opening in La Junta. This follows the lead established by Joe the mayor and city manager Michael Hart.

Future CIA Operatives they are not, because the website Lisa posted and the liquor license approved by city council that you can find on the state website gives all of the clues necessary:

So while Lisa is posting about this needing to be kept secret for competitive reasons, remember there is no other competition in La Junta (Walmart is a big big store) and this was more about government gatekeeping information to remind us that we’re all beneath them and they KnOw bEtTeR.

While this group of ineptitards will likely flood the narrative that they succeeded in this endeavor, remember that Auggie’s came due to opportunity and demographics and if this team actually was stellar then the downtown would look different, among other things.

On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Kiowa County Deputies served a felony warrant in the 1300 block of Main Street in Eads, Kiowa County. One individual was taken into custody and transported to the Prowers County Detention Center on charges of Embezzlement of Public Property. As with all cases, the individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Bent County taxpayers, prepare to get legally spanked! We have reports that Arkansas River Farms filed suit against bent county nearly a month ago for the denial of transferring a 1041 permit to a new company name and also for revegetation requirements.
We predicted this SIX MONTHS ago when the bent commissioners unanimously voted no on this name change that this would happen.

They showed him.
Him—a man with way more money than Bent has.
This was a no-brained to not get sued. But, they “know better” and even though they are in the wrong, they decided to play know it all kings and now their stupidity is costing AND WILL CONTINUE to cost the bent taxpayers in extensive legal fees.

By the way— did they bother to tell any of you, the taxpayers, who are footing the bill for their poor decision? Nope. You aren’t entitled to know, only to pay.

Springfield Police Department VS “Karen” Namecalling

Springfield PD acknowledges they’ve taken one on the chin to save lives. We applaud their proactive efforts in tackling the issue of unlicensed teenage drivers driving recklessly. After multiple strategies failed, they started writing tickets. It’s noticeably quieter and safer in Springfield now. Thanks SPD.

A woman was killed in a pedestrian-vehicular accident while crossing Highway 50 late yesterday afternoon in the city of Las Animas, near the Loaf N’ Jug, approximately one block from the location where the highway makes a 90° turn.

Multiple individuals living in the town have reported a chronic lack of speed enforcement in Las Animas.

One citizen reached out, “It was a matter of time before another person was hit on the highway. It’s not uncommon to see people driving double the speed limit through the city.”

In this episode of your government’s incompetency is showing—It was announced at a intergovernmental agency meeting last week that SCEDD, Southern Colorado Economic Development District- who serves as the local federal EDA (economic development administration) compliance coordinator for Baca Bent Otero Prowers Kiowa Crowley Huerfano Fremont Pueblo, Las Animas, Lake, Chafee, & Custer counties is nearly stick a fork in it-turkey on the table dead.

The announcement was that they have $12 in the bank. Twelve—Less than a combo and shake at Sonic twelve. Less than a book of stamps twelve.

The executive director quit last month and there’s not even enough money for one hour of paid labor at minimum wage.

There was discussion of looking into possible misappropriation of funds, creative accounting and unfinished grants. Don’t worry. These are all allegedly-maybe-who knows brought to you by the folks who self appointed themselves to look into the matter…the same ones who had the wool pulled over their eyes. They’ve enlisted a former staff to help. Do you think she knew the organization was broke?

Most of us don’t know who SCEDD.com are. I suggest you look at their board 🤡s. There at least two from every county. Find your two and complain that their gross ignorance, incompetence, and failure to do due diligence has crashed another thing in the Arkansas Valley. Welcome to the culture where people sit on boards and just get a glazed over look when the financial report is discussed.

Again, things are declining in SE Colorado because voters let idiots win at the polls, take on tasks, and sit on boards that they know very little about. This isn’t to say every elected, board member or employee is 💩—just far too many of them.

SCEDD brought you many projects…Now they’re just bringing packs of ramen to the potluck.
