NEW POST: For my first solo byline at IAAPA News, I wrote about the popular trend of theme parks hosting food festivals from the perspective of SeaWorld Orlando's annual Seven Seas Food Festival, after attending its inaugural day on Feb. 2.

Career update: I’m excited to share that today is my first day as Digital Content Editor for IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions).

I will be part of the global communications team based in Central Florida, and facilitate on IAAPA’s content strategies for both print and online publications such as IAAPA News Hub and “Funworld” magazine.

This new role also signals the end of my journalism era, and while it’s bittersweet to close this chapter of my professional self, I’m looking forward to this fresh start into the communications field. After all, it’s a full-circle moment for a self-described theme parks nerd like me that I get to work in this niche 🥳🎢🎡.

It’s official: I have a master’s degree, and I still can’t believe I graduated with distinction honors from the UF College of Journalism and Communications!

Even though I’m now part of the small percentage of Latinas with master’s degrees, it wasn’t always this easy to achieve this goal in the first place.

In my case, I went from an art school dropout during my associate’s degree, dealt with academic probations during undergrad, and juggled working overtime with breaking news during my first graduate semester at UF and delaying my graduation date due to a family emergency last semester.

Honestly, I’m still in awe I made it this far and as I close this ambitious chapter of my life, I’m working hard in drafting my next one that’s just as full of passion and drive.

I can’t believe today is the first day of my last semester of graduate school at UF CJC Online!

It seems like I’ve been working on my master’s degree for a long time, yet I’m so close to the finish line with this capstone course.

Here’s to succeeding my academic achievements in 2023 🎉🐊📚🎓💙🧡✨!!!
