City of Toronto Climate Strategy
Toronto is a vibrant, world-class city… with one of the fastest growing populations in North America. But that same growth brings challenges - and one of the most pressing is climate change. To address this, the City of Toronto has set an ambitious target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.
Double Barrel created this public awareness piece to help the City of Toronto in their community outreach efforts. Working with the Environment & Climate team, we scripted the storyline and interviewed thought leaders who outlined the city’s strategy and highlighted steps that the general public can take towards reducing emissions. We dodged blizzards and filmed on location across the city, then crafted animated sequences and graphics that stay on-brand and add entertainment value.
This piece is part of the City of Toronto’s EV Strategy website, and was versioned with closed captioning and in 30-second vertical formats for sharing on Instagram Reels, Twitter & Facebook.

So when Hamilton Public Health contacted us with a request to create a comedic PSA highlighting the challenges of breastfeeding - we couldn’t wait to get started. And as it happens, we had the perfect team for the job.
Starring the amazing Canadian comedy talents of Deborah Kimmett (CBC, The Debaters) Diana Frances (CBC - The Hour, The Debaters), Lisa Merchant & Deborah Jarvis; we had the ladies improvise their way through answers to the ultimate leading question “Do You Remember Your First Time?” We knew they were talking about breastfeeding.. the rest of the audience has to wait for the punchline :)
This PSA screened in theatres across the city, and to this day remains one of Hamilton Public Health’s most-viewed videos online.

Over the course of four months we worked with the Halton District School Board to conceptualize, cast, script and shoot this oh-so-important PSA, focused on raising awareness about student mental health. We're still so proud of the stunningly beautiful outcome, directed by Ty Tekatch.

“This project was compelling to us because it was a chance to collaborate with drama students from the HDSB, all of whom were eager to participate, and to work with a school board that wanted to open up the conversation about mental health,” says Double Barrel’s Roslyn Mugford. “The stigma regarding mental health is something that our society as a whole needs to break down, and the HDSB is taking the necessary steps to do that in their schools.”
Marnie Denton, Manager of Communication for the HDSB, had this to say about working with us ~ “Double Barrel Studios found a creative way to present the topic of Mental Health awareness for us. They took all our information and distilled it down to the essential points that needed to be communicated. From our first meeting to the final edits it was a pleasure to work with their team.”
