Facing the music for more than a quarter of a century, Billy Prince Brown’s releases have seen him flirting with the likes of Dugjive, the Relatives, Klin and many others.
He enters 2021 with a violent steer from the familiar path of past.
Both songs on this release were conceived during the year 2020 and see him dwelling not on his usual guitar/voice adventure, but on new and very welcome ground.
Despite the unusual costume he wears, some of the thematics dear to him are still central; the usual political commentary re-surfaces again in Excel/Repel and the eternal subject of sickness and mortality in Charlie.
This new single is brutal in essence but sophisticated in its delivery.
You can smell electronica but you can also taste punk.
The wailing of a situation of unease, where all of us will find a place at one point or another.
