Congratulations to our neighbor in Homer Glen Chicago Bear Steve McMichael who will receive his Hall of Fame jacket, and bust at his home 🐻 🏈

With Steve McMichael unable to travel to the Pro Football Hall of Fame due to his battle with ALS, the Hall of Fame will be coming to him.

Hall of Fame president Jim Porter will head to McMichael's home in the Chicago suburb of Homer Glen Saturday to present the former Bears star defensive tackle with his gold jacket and bust as part of the Class of 2024's enshrinement ceremony.

Accompanying Porter from Canton, Ohio, will be McMichael's wife, Misty, their daughter, Macy, and Hall of Fame former Bears teammates Richard Dent and Jimbo Covert. Other former teammates and members of the Super Bowl XX champion 1985 Bears expected to be at McMichael's home for a private celebration include Tom Thayer, Gary Fencik, Jim Osborne, Jim Morrissey and Emery Moorehead.

Steve McMichael, played 13 seasons with the Bears from 1981-93, appearing in a franchise-record 191 straight games. The Texas native affectionately known as "Mongo" ranks second in team history with 92.5 sacks, helped the Bears win six NFC Central Division titles and was an instrumental part of the 1985 defense that many consider to be the best in NFL history.

McMichael was a two-time first-team All-Pro, a three-time second-team All-Pro and a two-time Pro Bowler.

2nd Lt Robert Porter Homecoming

🇺🇸 FINALLY HOME AFTER 80 YEARS 🇺🇸 U.S. Army Air Force 2nd Lt. Robert L. E. Porter, 23, of Chicago, IL gave his last full measure of devotion to his country on February 4, 1944 as the navigator onboard a B-24J “Liberator.” He was accounted for Dec. 20, 2023, and will finally be returning home to be buried with full military honors at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. First responders and the public lined the escort route on Friday, June 7 to show their support for the long overdue homecoming for this WWII Hero. Personnel from the Orland Fire Protection District and the Tinley Park Fire Department honored 2nd Lt Porter with crossed towers as the procession arrived at Lawn Funeral Home in Orland Park. The escort departed Midway Airport and traveled through Burbank, Oak Lawn, Chicago Ridge, Worth, Palos Heights, and Orland Park. Visitation and prayers will be held Monday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m, at the Lawn Funeral Home (7732 W 159th St. Orland Park, IL) from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. #WelcomeHome 🇺🇸 #WWII 🇺🇸 #WeRemember 🇺🇸
