R I P Carlton Coffie
Calton Coffie (1954-2023) was a Jamaican vocalist who rose to prominence for his work in the Jamaican-based recording act Inner Circle, but had also recorded as a vocal soloist.

He was active in the reggae group from 1986 to 1994, when he began performing under the moniker Hot Cup of Coffie, based in the United Kingdom. For a brief period, his career was put on hold due to health problems.[2] Coffie is perhaps best known for providing vocals for their smash hit single Sweat (A La La La La Long), which entered the European charts upon its release.[3] His 4 decade long career proclaimed him 1 Grammy Award win and 2 nominations, for Sweat (A La La La La Long), Bad Boys and Reggae Dancer.[4][5]

Little is known about Coffie, and his activity in the music business has faltered.

In 1978, Robert Nesta "Bob Marley" had returned to his home town after touring and living in the U.K. He was explaining to the youth in the pic that he was Bob Marley and that this was the place that he grew up in. The youth didn't believe him, saying that he is not Bob Marley. that if he was famous, he would have never returned there, to the impoverished place.

It's a very nice pic. when you hear the context of the story, it makes you cry a bit. Seeing how someone, who has made it internationally famous, is returning humbly back to his home village.

They said that the more money he made, the more he would give to the poor and fight for the poor. This is why this man remains an inspiration to so many!

THE AFRICAN GIANT: Jamaicans turned up in large numbers and supported Burna Boy's live concert at the National Stadium in Kingston.

It is reported that Burna is the first African artist to draw such a crowd in Jamaica. Burna performed alongside top Jamaican artists in the likes of Popcaan and together they entertained patrons with their hit single 'Toni-Ann Singh'. Legendary reggae artist Beres Hammond also performed on stage.

Prior to the show, there were concerns about the price of the tickets but many Jamaicans encouraged their fellow citizens to turn up and show love to the African Giant.

One Ryan Brady commented online, "Go out and support the artist. When our Jamaican artists goes to these African countries to perform, they are well supported. So, no matter the cost, go out and full the venue. He is an African doing it big worldwide."

Indeed, Jamaicans showed up in large numbers and thousands were singing Burna's hit word to word.

Over the years, many Jamaican artists from the legendary Bob Marley to Beres Hammond, Sizzla, Culture, Busy Signal, Sean Paul, Morgan Heritage etc all had successful stadium-size concerts in countries like Zimbabwe, Kenya, The Gambia, SA, Uganda, Ghana and many other countries around the continent.
