A podcast about moments that have shaped the people we are today.
We all have stories we tell ourselves. Moments or episodes that linger with us as having defined the direction our life has taken or shaped our characters in some way. And yet, we may not have shared this story with anyone, despite the significance it has for us.
I’m fortunate to live a life where I’ll often be at a BBQ with friends, neighbours or colleagues and yet there are things I really want to talk about that I’m never quite able to. The subject never comes up. The timing never feels quite right. Or it’s not easy to open up in that way.
Why I’m horrified at photos of myself. The impact self-imposed rules have had on my life. Why I never aspired to be a famous tennis player. The time I acted without honour and hurt someone who cared for me. The stories behind these, and more, are what I don’t talk about @ BBQs. As well as sharing my own stories, What I Don’t Talk About @ BBQs will be a place where, together, we can reflect upon the times in our lives that have left their imprint upon us, for better or worse, and what perspective we can bring to these recollections.
