Got to try Four Kings last week thanks to our friends who managed to snag reservations 🙏😊 Overall, thought flavors were really good but everything was just a tad bit salty. Everything we ordered (in order of pictures):

- Mapo spaghetti (came with a lottt of sauce lol so we ordered a couple bowls of rice to finish it off 😅)
- Pork chop rice w/ tomato egg (loved this dish!!)
- HK black pepper steak (also really good)
- Stir fried Sichuan potatoes
- Snap peas w/ tofu dressing (loved this one too)
- Chiuchow olive green beans
- Red bean shaved ice
- Blueberry hot silken tofu (this one was a bit strange lol)

Loved the vibes of this restaurant - small but very cozy 😊 Reservations open 3 weeks in advance but they also do take walk ins for bar seats!

Spontaneous visit to a new restaurant in our area and wowow everything from was delicious 🤤 Did not expect the wait to be an hour though lol so would highly recommend making reservations in advance! Everything we ordered we would 💯 get again:

- Spicy honey pizza 🍕
- BBQ beef ribs w/ cornbread and cole slaw 🥩
- Diavolo pasta 🍝
- Roasted Brussels sprouts
- Creamed corn w/ jalapeños and bacon (so gooood)
- Milk n cookies 🍪

how has it already been 2 months since we were here 🤯 we hiked from manarola to riomaggiore just in time to catch sunset 🌅 sad story: we took the train back after dinner but the train ended up stopping on a different platform so we were scrambling to catch it and didn’t finish buying our train tickets on the app. ran into a train officer as soon as we boarded the train and got fined 100 euros for a 2 min train ride 😭 SIGH.

I'm not one for text posts but Marriott blocked my post in their FB group so sharing here instead:

I recently stayed at the Anaheim Marriott Suites in Garden Grove, CA and had my AirPods and jewelry stolen from my hotel room while I was out. I didn't even notice until I needed my AirPods the next morning. Upon closer inspection, my backpack had been gone through and other items were moved in the room but there was nothing else out noticeably out of place that would have indicated a break in. The hotel conducted a room lock audit and there were two entries into my room within 2 hours of each other on Thursday afternoon - both by housekeeping staff. The police also confirmed there were no signs of forced entry. But the hotel has been uncooperative in investigating their housekeeping staff further and has directed me to a process run by their insurance company which they said will take ~8 weeks.

My AirPods thankfully had tracking enabled through Find My Device - the police were able to go to the house ~5 miles away from the hotel and actually managed to successfully retrieve my AirPods. The jewelry, however, is still missing.

This hotel does not provide safes in the rooms to lock stuff up, and a Google search of reviews for this hotel shows numerous theft incidents in recent months.

I called the hotel again this morning to ask about what specific investigation they had actually done on their end. Here's what I learned:
- They only talked to the housekeeping manager who said there was no one who worked there that matched the vague description from the police officers of the residents at the house where my AirPods were found. And that completed their investigation and they filed an incident with their insurance. This is clearly an inside job. That's all they were able to do for their investigation?
- I asked why there were two entries into my room within 2 hours of each other, both by housekeeping staff. They didn't know.
- When I asked if they had checked security cameras in the lobby elevator area and/or back of the hotel (which are the only security cameras they have - there are none that capture hallway activity on each floor), I was told that housekeeping has a separate service elevator that they use and there are no cameras that capture that so there's nothing they can look into. Uh. HUGE red flag???

Overall, just very disgusted by what's happening internally at this hotel. Please beware and avoid booking this place at all costs.

If you’re in the LA area highly recommend checking out 😍 We made it a goal to try at least one new restaurant during our last LA trip (we usually just hit up old favorites) and so glad we picked this one! They serve up Indonesian, Singaporean, and Malaysian cuisine. Haven’t been to any of those countries so can’t speak for authenticity but the dishes here were so unique and had so much flavor 🙌🏼 We got:

🥬 Gado-gado (lettuce, bean sprouts, cabbage, cucumber, egg, fried tofu, peanut sauce)
🍚 Nasi Rendang (beef cooked in coconut milk and spices served over rice w/sides)
🍜 Hakka style noodles (bbq pork, fish cake, fish ball, egg, veggies)

So goooood 😋 Now trying to find something like this in the bay - please send any recs! 🙏

Finally got to try the duck at .sm last month 😍🙌🏼 The set meal for two comes with roasted duck breast, salad topped with crispy duck skin, and a very rich duck leg bread pudding 😋 So gooood. Loved the sauce that they served the duck with - they use an antique press to extract duck juices which are then mixed with cognac and red wine to form the most luxurious sauce🍷 We first heard about this dish on Worth It and we finally understand what they meant when they said the sauce itself tastes medium rare 😮

Highly recommend reserving the duck in advance! The first time we came here back in December, I was so proud of myself for thinking ahead and snagging a reservation two weeks in advance, only to realize after we got here that the duck was sold out 😂

Glad our second attempt was a success! If you’ve got room for dessert definitely get their chocolate soufflé too 😊

Tried Uyghur cuisine for the first time at and the food was delicious 😋 So. Much. FLAVOR 🙌🏼 Lots of great lamb dishes too. We tried:

🥟 Samsa (hand pies w/ beef and onion)
🌶 Shredded tofu with sauce (this was hella spicy but in a good way lol)
🌮 Uyghur lamb wraps
🍚 Polo (rice with carrot, shredded lamb, and beef - this was my favorite!)
🍜 Beef noodle soup (this was very spicy)
🍢 Lamb kebab

Definitely give them a try if you’re around the area! The restaurant is small but cozy and the food is 😍😍

it’s been a while!! So glad we got to visit when we were in LA a few weeks back 🍝 I always get the spaghetti with arrabbiata sauce (adds a nice kick) topped with burrata! Sooo good 😋

has a new drink!! Green Thai Tea 😍 It’s their first new drink in almost two years. Made from Chatramue Green Tea (grown exclusively and harvested from Thailand’s cool northern mountainous region), this drink has a much more floral taste compared to regular Thai Tea. It’s a refreshing twist! Would recommend adjusting the sweetness down though (it’s a very sweet/creamy drink 😋)

Japanese comfort food at its finest 😍 does it all!! They specialize in onigiri but their rice bowls and kara-age are amazing too. Everything is made-to-order with fresh and high-quality ingredients. Some of our favorites (without listing out everything lol):

Had the most incredible feast at yesterday 🙌🏼 They started off as a food truck but recently opened their first brick-and-mortar in San Jose, serving up burritos, street tacos, and plates 😋 Highly recommend their birria tacos + torta (available only on Sundays), nachos, and slow cooked barbacoa costillas.

Never got around to posting these after our LA trip a few months back. But thanks and for introducing us to Ducks! A restaurant that serves…no duck lol but they do AMAZING katsu don! 😍🙌🏼 And curry! It’s a hole in the wall kind of place but well worth a visit!

Every 2 weeks or so we make a trip to 99 Ranch Market to buy wonton ingredients. 🥟 The filling that I use is super easy to make and the wrapping process itself is very therapeutic imo 😅 Here’s everything that goes into the filling:- 1.5 lbs of ground pork (99 Ranch can grind the meat for you on the spot)- 2 eggs - 1 can (those half sizes) of water chestnuts, diced- Chopped green onions (as much or as little as you want)- 2 tablespoons of light soy sauce- 1 tablespoon of cooking wineFor wraps I personally prefer the thin ones (comes in purple packaging) - I think they’re easier to work with. Hallstatt is 💯 worth doing as a day trip from Salzburg. One of the prettiest towns I’ve ever seen 😍 Top 3 scenic viewpoints in Hallstatt: (1) Classic postcard viewpoint (might also show up as Aussichtspunkt Hallstatt on Google Maps). This is THE spot. Go here straight from the ferry to beat crowds.
