A Study of American Women A Study of American Women is a blog and podcast created by three PhD students at Syracuse University Amber Shoopman is originally from Wyoming.

This blog and podcast was created by three graduate students working towards their PhD in History at Syracuse University. Please take a minute to familiarize yourself with each of them in these brief bios. She did her undergraduate work at Boise State University where she majored in History and minored in English. She was a member of Gamma Beta Phi, the Honors College, and the McNair Scholars prog

ram. At Syracuse University, she TAs for a variety of different history courses. Her own studies focus on Early American History, Women's Studies, African-American History, and Maritime History. In her free time she enjoys reading, writing, watching movies, cooking, and scrapbooking. Sarah Stegeman is originally from Illinois. She completed her undergraduate work at University of Illinois with a major in history and a minor in women and gender studies. Sarah enjoys studying early American history, women's history, and African American history. Michelle Dempsey is from Pennsylvania and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh with a double major in History and English Literature. Her areas of interest are Early American History, Women's History, African American History, and Print Culture.
