We are super stoked to announce that California poet and writer D.L. Lang will be editing this project!
Poetry is Dead II: Once You're Dead, You're Dead Forever
D.L. Lang is a former poet laureate of Vallejo, California. Lang has been listening to the Grateful Dead since she was a teenager in Oklahoma in the late‘90s.
She adores their folk inspired albums, Workingman's Dead and American Beauty the most.
She feels that her spirit belongs with the counterculture crowd of Beats, bohemians, hippies, and folkies, which eventually led her to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Her poetry has been used as liturgy, transformed into songs, and used to advocate for peace, justice, and a better world. Lang is an internationally published poet whose work appears in over 70 anthologies.
In addition to Poetry is Dead: An Inclusive Anthology of Deadhead Poetry (Hercules, 2022), her music inspired poetry appears in Remembering Woody Guthrie (Moonstone, 2023), Starman Oddity (Fevers of the Mind, 2024) and The Rastaman (Alien Buddha, 2021).
She also edited the poetry anthologies Verses, Voices, & Visions of Vallejo (2019) and the forthcoming A Decade of Poetic Unity: Celebrating Vallejo’s Poets Laureate (2025).
As a winner of the 2023 Curbside Haiku Contest, her haiku was displayed across downtown Tulsa and is archived at the Woody Guthrie Center. She is a member of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade and a two time Woody Guthrie Poet. Lang was recognized by the California State Senate and California Arts Council for her service as poet laureate.
She is the author of 17 poetry collections, and has performed hundreds of times at festivals, demonstrations and literary events. Find out more at poetryebook.com
