"Ponderosa" by Beclynn - featuring Van Bellman - is out today!!
Bec's music is always phenomenal, so you know it's high praise when I say this is my favorite track of hers to date. In her own words, this is a song of resilience, and the anthemic melodies carry that theme every bit as much as the lyrics - anchored by the beautiful harmonies and vocal arrangements that are always hallmarks of Bec's music.
Fittingly for such an uplifting song, this one was the product of some really awesome collaboration. Huge thank you to Van Bellman for the harmonies, banjo, AND lead electric guitar that completely transformed and elevated the song. Equally huge thank you to Nic Sibson and Daniel Common on drums and bass respectively for giving this track exactly the rhythmic anchor and energy it needed. And thank you as always to Rachel Field Audio at Resonant Mastering for her expert ears and musical touch!

The Wild Card EP by Lunar Pilots is out today!!
Lunar Pilots came out swinging with this one. It's got attitude, playfulness, and vulnerability in equal measure, and it just rocks the f**k out. (If you're my age, it just might make you want to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater again.) These guys are just the absolute best to get to collaborate with in the studio. Oftentimes, the simplest recordings end up being some of my favorites. Andrew and I recorded and mixed this song in a couple hours. One voice and one piano. And the result is a beautifully earnest and heartfelt song that I can't stop listening to.

Corey's voice is every bit as soulful, bluesy, and expressive as his guitar work on this song - backed by stellar drumming and bassifying. There's no substitute for the vibe and groove of a tight band playing live in the same room, and we had a blast getting to produce the song that way. Kazmyn's new single "MORE TO LOVE" is out today!
Intimate and vulnerable singer-songwriter tracks are what first got me interested in recording and producing, and I've got to be honest - this is one of my favorite songs I've ever had the chance to work on. It's gorgeous, heartfelt, and emotionally raw.
A couple behind-the-scenes facts: Kazmyn actually wrote about half of the song on the spot in the studio the day we tracked it, and her vocals on the recording are a single unedited take.

There's something particularly exciting about seeing a piece of music come to fruition after a long evolution process. This song was first written back in 2008, and I had the privilege of getting to mix it and work with James Brownlee on laying down the drums to FINALLY get it out into the world!
Like any Tree & the Sea song, this one is built on stacks of Faisal & Emily's gorgeous harmonies, with phenomenal guitar work by Brad Goff, soulful sax lines by Sharat Somashekara, and James's grooves holding it all together. Mastered by the incomparable Rachel Field Audio at Resonant Mastering!

Anyone who made it to a lavenderhayez show last year will know this one absolutely rips live, and we had a blast capturing that in the studio. Featuring a driving beat and atmospheric instrumentals, but Meghan's mysterious and expressive voice carries this one.

Wow.
I don't know if I can put it more succinctly than I did last year, so if I can borrow my own words:
To all of the artists who trusted me to help you put a project out into the world in 2023, thank you from the bottom of my exceptionally-full heart.
This year, I had the chance to work with childhood friends as well as brand new ones. I got to watch a lot of ridiculously talented artists release their own music for the first time. I got to see clients of mine perform at some of my favorite venues, and in a few instances, I was lucky enough to join them onstage. My band put out one final EP. And I spent fully half the year living RIGHT next door to a construction site, proving that Ric Vaughan and Devan Register know their stuff when it comes to soundproofing.
Thank you all so, so much for letting me be a part of your art. Lots more to come in 2024....

This is such a sweet and beautiful song about living with a partner who's on a totally opposite sleep schedule. I've always loved intimate recordings, and we kept this track instrumentally sparse and ambient to keep Lucia's soulful voice and poetic lyrics front and center. Please give it a listen!!

I'm so proud to have gotten to work on this track. It's a heartfelt and vulnerable (& highly relatable) song about how sometimes, in Mia's words, "isolation and withdrawal feel safer than trust and connection."

This is driving indie rock with a touch of Broadway and it goes hard (especially when the drums kick in). Bailey and I have been collaborating for 3 years now and I couldn't ask for a more energetic and driven artist to create music with. Also, that VOICE.

As someone who binge watches the extended edition of the Lord of the Rings trilogy at least once a year (and who also happens to be named Sam), I adored getting to work on this song. It's a heartfelt, beautifully sung folk tune with a rich melody - and a tribute to one of my favorite characters. We're so proud of this song and it would mean the world if you'd give it a listen.

Bailey's unpredictability and stylistic range is my favorite thing about her as an artist. Whether it's a folk ballad, a smokey jazz number, a Broadway anthem, a gritty indie rock track, or (in this case) a funky breakup song with attitude and a chorus that you can't NOT dance to, Bailey's acrobatic voice and earnest, grounded songwriting let her navigate wildly different genres while always sounding at home.

Tree & the Sea - Faisal Emily Music just dropped their DEBUT SINGLE "Friend of Mine" on all streaming platforms!!
Working on this song was an otherworldly full-circle experience. Faisal (one half of the magnificent duo that is Tree & the Sea) has been one of my best friends since we were 12, and we've been playing music together since probably a week after we met. So after years of basement 4-track recordings and Matchbox Twenty high school talent show performances, it's surreal to finally be putting out music that we had the chance to work on together.
Emily and Faisal are two of the best singers, songwriters, musicians, and humans I could ever ask to work with. We can't wait for you to hear this track.

Last summer, Kazmyn fell off a 20 foot cliff and shattered her knee. Today - a year to the day after her surgery - she released a song about healing, waiting, and perspective.
