"Take a picture of me doing a heel click" I said, even though I absolutely cannot do a heel click. 🤷‍♀️

We just got back from a week away visiting my fiance's family in Ontario. I am in love with all the brick houses and brico buildings there so we had a little "photo shoot" in the alley.

I'm home now and excited to jump back into client projects. Currently on the desk is a handful of website migrations and website redesigns. My plate is pretty full for this month so if you want to work together to improve your website send me a message and we can dive in later this month.

Hullo from your Small Business Cheer Squad! Even when the crew from Futurama isn't behind me you can find me cheering you on in your small business journey from my cozy little corner of the internet.

What makes it cozy? Well, I'm all about slow and intentional growth as a business. I'm about creating a healthy work-life balance that inspires creativity instead of burnout. And I'm all about helping you grow your business online without the stress that often accompanies digital growth!

(Plus you can usually find me literally cozied up in my office with a candle, blanket and tea.)

As we start a fresh calendar year it can feel overwhelming to hit the ground running. If you're slowly sauntering into the year like I am, I invite you to embrace this era of intentional and slow growth.

Someone recently said to me that February is the new January and I felt that in my bones. Take all the time you need to ease into the year! You don't need to have your resolutions set in stone by the first week. You can start adjusting your habits and goals over weeks instead of expecting yourself to wake up a different person overnight.

Be easy on yourself. Carve out some quality time with your business and assess where you're at. You're going to do so many amazing things this year.

2023 was the year I started jumping off cliffs just to see what happened.

This was a MASSIVE year for Grow and Behold Digital. I thought that rebranding early in 2023 would result in a slow growth year but it was the exact opposite. The new name gave me a sense of confidence and direction that I was lacking and propelled me into many new goals and ideas.

Cheers to all your accomplishments in 2023, I am so excited to see what the new year holds!

Here comes the holidays!! Just a heads up that I will be out of the office next week as I stuff my face with goodies, start my days with Bailey's and log off for a few days.

I'm almost done with client deadlines for the year so I'll be spending most of this week planning and prepping for the new year. I'll be over here brainstorming content ideas, streamlining operations and dreaming up some new goals for 2024.

Also, just FYI, I will be working from the couch every day this week with a constant stream of holiday movies in the background and eggnog in my coffee.

It's okay if some days look like this!

Today I'm working from bed and then I think I'll upgrade to the couch later this afternoon. I'm not sick but I am tired. I have deadlines to meet and projects that are due so I can't take the day off, but I can take the day easy.

I often get stuck in this mentality that I need to work eight hours a day to be "enough" but I'm working on shifting that mentality. Sure 9 to 5 is a solid time to work but (especially this time of year) I don't always have it in me.

So I prioritize what NEEDS to be done for the day and then I take care of myself. Growth doesn't have to be cranked to 100 every single day.

I hope you're finding balance and taking time for yourself, whatever that looks like for you.

As business owners, we make SO MANY decisions every single day. If you're ever wondering why you feel so drained and so tired all the time it could be that your brain has been working too hard for too long. ⁣
Decisions take energy.

If you're dealing with decision fatigue here are some suggestions to combat the mental exhaustion:

1. Create simple routines. This can help to alleviate some of your daily decisions. Lean on your routine and let your mind take it easy.

2. Put it on paper. Make a list of the things you need to get done so you don't have to keep all that information in your head.

3. Prioritize. You don't have to do it all at once. Choose your top three things to get done and leave the rest for any other day.

4. Talk to someone. whether it's to ask for advice or just get it off your chest, verbalize what you're experiencing to a friend, family member or professional.

5. Find time for yourself. Immerse yourself in a book, binge a good show or go for a long walk. Put the phone down and log off for a while. Let your mind run at its own pace instead of trying to keep up with your busy lifestyle.

Here's what fall looks like in my corner of the world:

There are apples on the trees in the front yard, probably ready to be picked.

Our scary movie list for 2023 is on the wall, it's a big poster board where we give each film a rating out of five. We watched five in September, mostly classics and not-too-scary movies to start.

The dehydrator is working overtime to dry garlic and chilli peppers, and soon apple slices too! Once you make your own garlic powder you will NEVER go back to the grocery store kind.

I'm already planning all his outfits for the month.

Tickets for Field of Screams are booked! I'm already shaking in my boots but I love the thrill and does such a great job at keeping it creative every year.

Other October plans include checking out our local pumpkin patch, visiting , carving pumpkins and more spooky movie nights.
