Here is her latest song which has been aired on radio and a few other platforms. Well done Julie...and don't forget folks...you heard her on Mountain to Glen first 😉🏊‍♀️📻🎶🎵🎸

We wish to offer our deepest condolences to all of the family, friends and fellow team members of Octavius Job who was a serving member of the Sligo Leitrim Mountain Rescue Team after he tragically passed from this world on the 2nd of July. May he Rest In Peace.

Octavius (Ocky) Job tragically died on 2nd July.

He often came across as quiet, but once you got to know him he had an excellent dry wit and always greeted you with a big swashbuckling smile. He brought calmness to chaos and the impossible was just the untried.

He was highly regarded on the team amongst his peers. His dedication, professionalism and charm were among the many attributes he brought to SLMRT, and we were all proud to have served alongside him.

Ocky was immensely proud of his family and this was evident when he would speak about his kids, Katie, Rollo, Bella, grandson Logan and his late wife, Vanessa.

He died doing what he loved and was brought home by those who loved him like a brother.

Go Raibh Suaimhneas Síoraí Air.

Lima 5 still on the hill.

While visiting Dursey Island recently I came across a few hard working volunteers busy uncovering the Eire 32 sign near the Signal Tower which they plan to restore to its former glory. These signs were created along Irelands coastline during the Second World War to signify our neutrality....and were also numbered as a navigational aid to Allied Aircraft...especially after a number of crashes had occurred. To find out more about their work check out Beara Peninsula ⛏️🚡🌊🐬👷👷‍♀️

Day 7: My last day on the Camino for this leg of my journey, as I walked from Los Arcos to Logroño...which clocks in at 27.8kms. It was an enjoyable day in which I met up with some fellow Irishmen and Roland from 88-photos.com...who we decided to make an Honoury Irishman ☘️ It was also a day tinged with sadness as I was going to be saying farwell to my fellow travelling companion's which I had met along the way. For the last night I joined Roland in a Michelin star restaurant in Logroño which was called Ajonegro....and it turned out to be a great dining experience and for a very reasonable price....much less than you would pay in Ireland. A great way to finish this part of the journey. Buen Camino to all those I met along the way and especially to those still travelling the trail. 🥾🥾🥘🇪🇸

Day 6: Today's walk was from Estella to Los Arcos at a distance of about 21.5kms. As myself and some fellow travelling companion's left Estella we witnessed some degree òf excitement among a group of pilgrims who had gathered at a tap....which wine poured from...freely available 🍷Some bottles lost their water and were replaced by the red stuff....plenty of happy...if maybe slightly dehydrated pilgrims today 😉 Again, another enjoyable day for me on the Camino with great company along the way 🥾🥾🌞

Day 5: By morning any damp clothing was once again dry....and so I left Puente La Reine and set out for Estella which was approx 21.9kms further along the trail. The weather was once again sunny and so enjoyed both it and good companionship along the way. In the evening I shared a table with a man named Roland who is writing a blog about his journey on the Camino. If you want to check it out click on 88-photos.com. Unfortunately you will now come across mention of me on it as well...but don't let that put you off 😉🌞🥾🥾

Day 4: Leaving Pamplona on what was the start of a wet day... I set out for Puente La Reina...a journey of about 23.8kms. The rain did not take from the enjoyment though. On Alto del Perdon I saw the sculpture which symbolises the history of Pilgrims on the Camino...from the first one finding they're way...through the middle ages and lastly showing modern Pilgrims. It's a well known point on the way...and in the rain very atmospheric 🥾🥾🌧🌧

Day 3: I left Zubiri and continued on the trail to Pamplona with about 20.9kms to walk. One of the things I truly enjoyed about the Camino is the different people you meet from all over the world as you travel along the way, with conversations which vary from light and funny to deep and meaningful. Zubiri was one such place which had provided this experience...but it exists all along the Camino..both on and off the trail 🌎 🥾🥾

On Day 2: I walked from Roncesvalles to Zubiri. One piece of advice I'll give if you're planning on doing the Camino this year is to book your accommodation in advance. There are a lot of pilgrims on the route now and it led to people waiting up to 1hr 30mins approx for a bed for the night....some were turned away and had to walk onto the next location hoping for a bed...not great if you've already walked 20-25kms. I used Into The West Adventures to book accommodation...there are several companies who offer this service...or you can arrange it yourself. Camping is also an option but may not always be legal...look into it before going out there so as you know what to expect along the way. 🥾🥾🏚⛺️

I just wanted to say thanks so much for the Svalbard trip. It's one of the best trips I’ve ever been on, and was truly amazing! I think the personal touch and "family" feel really sets Newland apart and makes the trips really special. Hopefully it's the start of many more polar trips for me!

We wish to offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Charlie Bird and are saddened to hear of his passing. He was not only a well respected journalist but had also been an avid hillwalker before being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This didn't stop him though and in 2022 he inspired the nation by climbing Croagh Patrick even though he was suffering from MND at the time, to raise awareness and funding for both the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House. Rest in Peace Charlie, you have truly earned it.
