Good morning! Janis Stein here...I am researching the history of Huron No. 4's one-room schoolhouse, also known as Davison School, for my Schools of Yesteryear column in The Lakeshore Guardian, which you can read for free online at www.lakeshoreguardian.com.

Davison School was built in 1885, and according to the 1890 and 1904 plat maps, the schoolhouse was located one-quarter mile south of the intersection of Stoddard Road and Huron City Road, or at the southeast corner of the northwest quarter of the northeast quarter of Section 16, in Huron County’s Huron Township. (The image shows Section 16 of Huron Township as it looked in 1904.)

Can anyone help me identify the teacher and students in this October 1954 photo, courtesy of the Huron Intermediate School District?

If you have additional photos, or memories you'd be willing to share, please comment below or email me at [email protected]. Any input would help me greatly in my efforts to preserve this history! Thank you!
