Almost a year ago, I moved out of my old studio space. My business partner moved back to Israel and I went about looking for a new home. Quinn McCarthy had told me about Matan needing a partner so I went around the corner to his studio and talked with him about some options. It was an amazing coincidence that's Quinn's partner happened to be leaving New York City as well. So I set up shop at located on the corner of Dupont St. and McGunness Blvd, in Greenpoint Brooklyn, the neighborhood where I have been making records for the last 18 years (2003). The live room is huge, we can record fully analog or hybrid. We can mix, analog, digital or hybrid. We have a beautiful Calrec console as well as 16 channels of API pres, 12 Channels of Neve pres, 2 UA 610s, and a beautiful mic collection. I am so proud and happy to share my new spot with you. Let me know if you or your friends need a session. Although my schedule is more limited these days, My workflow is also very streamlined. The last two pics are of my home studio where I have done most of my editing and mixing the last two years.

Talib Kweli has been recording at Rough Magic Studios since October of 2008 when he first came in working on Idle Warship's Party Robot Mixtape. He has since released that mixtape along with Gutter Rainbows, and the Blacksmith Community Mixtape. Currently Kweli is finishing up Idle Warship's first full length (Sept. 2011) along with his upcoming EMI distributed Prisoner of Conscience Due out in Nov 2011.
