Looking for more of Dawson McManus and I carrying on? Look no further!!!

It’s time for episode 50 of the Steal My Name Podcast!!!!

Can you believe it has been 50 episodes? To celebrate such a momentous occasion, which is also the end of our month of cyberpunk/ noir content, what else could we do but bring back one of our favourite guests, Dawson McManus. After tormenting him with video game adaptations, this time around it’s wall to wall classics with the anime landmarks Akira and Ghost in the Shell. Join us we dive into the wilder elements of these flicks, discuss their impact on the anime landscape, and the usual nonsense that happens when Dawson comes around the Steal My Name offices.
Star Trek Deep Space Nine stays on a great run of character focused episodes with Season 3, episode 5, Second Skin. Our book this week is the first volume in a monumental series celebrating the icons that are, Rush. Martin Popoff’s “Rush Across the Decades” book 1, “Anthem, Rush in the 70’s”, is a warts and all exploration of Canada’s favourite nerd rockers.

It wouldn’t feel right to finish off our month of spookables without spending a little time with the franchise that has become synonymous with the month of October. That’s right it’s time for Halloween! Specifically two entries in what may be the most chronologically confused horror franchise of them all.

For episode 45 of the Steal My Name Podcast we’re looking at two films that have a celebrated, yet contentious place in the franchise, Halloween H20 and Halloween 2018. As one is effectively a remake of the other our ghost host dives into how the franchise found itself rebooted/ reset so many times, the pros and cons of ignoring sequels, and so much more! So fill that candy bowl and fire up the jack-o-lantern, the witching hour is here!

Star Trek Deep Space Nine will never be the same after the formal introduction of The Dominion in Season 2, Episode 26, The Jem’Hadar. Also, we’ve finished season 2! Can you believe it? And for this weeks book, it’s another heavy hitter from the mad ghouls at Encyclopocalypse Publications. This time they go to great lengths to examine all of the unmade sequels in the Halloween Franchise. Whether you are a writer or just a fan of the films, Taking Shape 2: The Lost Halloween Sequels by Dustin McNeill and Travis Mullins is mandatory reading.

Don’t forget to get enough sleep, stay hydrated, take care of your brain, like, subscribe, follow, and be excellent to one another!

As All Hallows Eve draws ever closer, it’s time to talk about a different kind of scary movie. Sometimes the films that scare us aren’t filled with chainsaws, demons, and improperly wielded kitchen cutlery. Sometimes that most frightening images, the ones that stick with us the longest, are found in the most unlikely of places; Fantasy films

For episode 44 of the Steal My Name Podcast we’re taking a look at two childhood favourites, Willow and The NeverEnding Story. These movies aren’t horror, they didn’t set out to traumatize or scare anyone but damn it! They succeeded anyway! The fantasy films of the 1980’s had an intensity that few can match today, especially when watched a young age. Join Bob as he sets out with a group of unlikely heroes on a quest to discover why these films impacted us the way they did and what it means to confront and conquer fear as children.

Deep Space Nine hasn’t messed with O’Brien in a while, so they give him one last smack-around before the Dominion rises in Season 2, Episode 25, The Tribunal. And a little classic horror movie monster shares his history with us in the excellent franchise spanning book, Reign of Chucky by Dustin McNeill and Travis Mullins.
