55 years ago this summer we released LOVE IS THE THING, our first Bay Sound Records release. Al Jefferson, Program/Music Director at WWIN put it in the mix and played it for me when my first child Natalie was born on August 16, 1967. What a run it has been these five and one-half decades of dealing in the entertainment business. The Bay Sound Story CD covers the 1967-72 run of that label.

1990 brought about the birth of Gumption Records following a project I undertook with Erich March on his PortTown label in 1989.
With musical director Corey Brooks, we did a 21st-century version of the LOVE IS THE THING which we recorded with three different artists: Giovanna, Lady A, and yours truly reprising his 1967 rendering with the help of the Bleu Lights doing the background vocals!!! The original version in 1967 featured five students of mine from Clifton Park Junior High School singing the background in unison!!! The Pygatt sisters, the Powell sisters, and Diane Young made up the contingent. We rehearsed in the studio and recorded in one take!!!

LADY A passed away today!!! She was a marvelous singer and entertainer. Her CD titled "GIVE ME A SONG" is a special adventure in listening. Adrienne Brooks was the widow of Corey Brooks, a master keyboardist. and musical director for my GUMPTION RECORDS label.More to follow!!!!
