New tape out on Kinnta!
A very special album released by Matt LeGroulx circa 10 years ago. It is definitely one of my favourite albums that came out of the underground "power pop" from those years.
Around the time it came out, Matt reached out to me to release an album on Kinnta that panned out to be Deep Joy a couple of years after. Both living in the South West of Montreal, we started hanging out and became close friends. I later on joined Expwy for the live acts and played bass for a couple of years. Matt joined my band the Haiduks and we both played in Einar Jullum's band. On top of that, Matt also played in Chairs and was half of Galaxius Mons with Ian Jarvis that was also a big part of Expwy.
We played a bunch of songs from Bag of Waters and Deep Joy and many more random ones from other albums. It was quite a nice set of years playing those shows in underground lofts and small venues in Montreal. We had a blast and thanks to everyone who invited us and came to party!
For those who don't know Matt, he's one of the most prolific composers I know ! He's constantly releasing music under his own label called Phonautograph Records. You will find a lot of music that he recorded under High Five and many more.
