Some Tesla Cybertruck owners say their trucks have stopped working after going through a car wash. One owner experienced this just two months after buying their $80,000 Cybertruck, with only about 3,400 miles (5,500km) driven. They washed off sand after a beach trip, and then the vehicle wouldn't start.

A TikTok user named .ad posted a video showing his Cybertruck broken down. He couldn't get it to work even after trying to reset it.

After a five-hour computer reset initiated by pressing two buttons on the steering wheel, the Cybertruck started working again. Tesla's owner manual for the Cybertruck contains several warnings about washing the vehicle. Tesla advises against washing the truck in direct sunlight to prevent corrosion, and offers a special “Car Wash Mode.”

”Failure to put Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage (for example, to the charge port or windshield wipers),” the manual states. “Damage caused by car washes is not covered by the warranty.”
