Reels reach a new audience and carousels nurture your current audience. And the type of content you create for each should reflect that.
It’s really that simple! If you don’t believe me take a look at your insights. You should notice that the percentage of non followers who view your reels is higher than that of your carousels. (Of course there are exceptions but this is the general rule)
You want to make sure your Reels are really grabbing new people and that you’re getting follows from that so that when you post carousels to nurture them, you have people ready to receive that knowledge.
But what if your Reels aren’t converting? Then you need to talk to someone who can guide you through the social media trenches.

And ads work for A LOT of people, I’ve personally been running ad campaigns for clients now for 7 years. But there’s one thing that needs to happen FIRST before you can expect a good return on your ad.
Your goal needs to work organically first. Meaning, if you’re trying to get people to sign up for your freebie, AND IT’S NOT WORKING, throwing money at it won’t make it work faster.
💥 It means there’s a problem in your marketing.
If you’re trying to get people to join a membership and no one is joining organically, they won’t join magically if you start throwing money with a paid ad either.
💥Because there’s an issue with your marketing.
If people aren’t joining your program, buying your courses, or signing up for your freebie organically, it’s because there’s a disconnect somewhere. It could be that your content isn’t landing, that the thing you created isn’t really solving a problem, or that your copy around the item is off.
Whatever the reason, YOU CAN’T FIX IT BY THROWING MONEY AT SOME ADS.
💥The problem is not REACH, it’s your marketing.
Here are some questions to work through it: what is the one thing your product or service is solving for your ideal customer? Also, do you know exactly who that ideal customer is? Does that product or service take them through a complete transformation of A (their struggle) to B (solving their struggle)? And does your content to promote that product or service speak directly to them?

Success doesn’t happen overnight. 💥
In fact, it might take a year or two before you really get your business off the ground. Sometimes it takes longer for people, sometimes it takes a shorter amount of time.
And the biggest takeaway from this is that just because we live in the age of VIRALNESS, doesn’t mean that if we don’t go viral, that our business isn’t working.

VIRALNESS is not an indicator of success with your biz.
We’ve heard this before but it’s always worth repeating: don’t compare your level to someone else’s. The only thing you need to compare your business to, is where your business was yesterday. Last week. Last month.
As long as you’re seeing growth there…you’re on the right track. EVEN IF ITS SMALL. Growth is growth. Small growth is STILL growth.

Follow these steps to work smarter not harder with your content:
1. Do you have clear goals you’re trying to reach? And no, I don’t mean “I just want to sell.” Tell me how many products or services you want to sell within a certain time frame. That’s your attainable goal.
2. Now that you have your goal, do you know who this is for? Specifically WHO? Do you know exactly where they are in their life and why your product or service is THE thing they need? If not, do some market research by polling your audience, having conversations, sending surveys, etc.
3. Have you sold this in the past? If so, what worked and what didn’t. If not, don’t worry, it’s all trial and error, baby!
4. Create a strategy, aka a roadmap, with actionable steps to reach those goals.
5. Create content that supports that strategy and no that doesn’t mean you need to post daily. Or show up a certain way, like always sharing video content, or only going live. Do what feels fun!

1️⃣ - Believing you CAN is the catalyst for doing anything in your life - I had always wanted to be a nomad, but never believed that life was for me. I thought it was only for other people, until I read a book that completely changed my life. Once I believed I could, my success was guaranteed.
2️⃣ - You don’t actually “need” as much as you think you need. Before nomad life, I had a huge 1 bedroom apartment full of ALLLLL these things I swear I needed. How in the world was I supposed to decide what to take and what to put in storage? Well, the first few months of travel was a huge learning experience and I realized that I didn’t actual “need” all the things I thought I needed. (Except my cast iron. Can’t live without my Dutch oven 😂)
3️⃣ - Visiting lesser known areas are generally more fun than any of the big tourist spots. Some of my favorite memories from nomad life has been when I decided to stay in a town that I’d never heard of and had no real reason to visit. Indiana, PA comes to mind. It was such a cute town and I ended up making a dear friend I still talk to!
4️⃣ - Life is truly an adventure! When you are constantly traveling and having all these new experiences, it really does something to you. You start to find joy in the smallest things. A quaint cafe or coffee shop seems so much sweeter when you’re experiencing it for the first time. One of the best feelings!
5️⃣ - Being a nomad is way easier and way more accessible than people think. I am using my dads address for mail and business purposes. And my monthly budget is what I was spending every month in rent and utilities. Most months we pay only $900 for a rental. With all utilities! Another perk of visiting less touristy areas!

This is a common thing I hear regularly from my clients. Most of the followers for their business accounts are close friends and family. And because they are so worried about what they might think when they fully show up as themselves, they start to filter.
They filter their voice.
Their messages.
Their story.
They filter it all.

I remember the first time I realized that I needed help.
More than help. I needed SUPPORT.
Support from other female entrepreneurs who were trying to build similar businesses.
Passive Income.
That’s what was coming up for me. I needed to create some passive income so that I didn’t have to rely solely on 1:1.
The next day I saw an advertisement from @iamcarriegreen founder of @femaleentrepreneurassociation for a 5-day challenge to take your ideas and turn them into passive income.
Um, was she in my mind when I had those thoughts???
So I joined the free challenge and was really tempted by this new program she had created called Create + Sell.
But omg, the idea of paying REAL MONEY for a program TERRIFIED TF out of me!
Can you say MONEY BLOCKS + IMPOSTER SYNDROME?
Because, wow, I had them ALL.
Even though the money was there, I didn’t think I was worthy enough to spend it on my business.
Thoughts like “if I was smarter, more efficient, ________(insert any other negative description) then I wouldn’t need to pay for help, I could just figure it out on myself.”
In other words, I thought that by investing in my business, I was basically a failure because I couldn’t do it all on my own.
What in the peanut butter fxck!?
With only a few minutes left until the doors to the program CLOSED, I signed up.
$297/month for a full year.
Wow, that’s a lot of money.
But holy cow did it pay off.

New blog post is up! And you don’t want to miss it because it’s where I talk about EVERYTHING I learned from taking a FULL 3 MONTH SOCIAL MEDIA BREAK.
For a social media strategist, taking a break felt extremely uncomfortable for me, but it was so necessary. Make sure to check out my blog post for the full details, but here’s the gist of it.
1. Ditch the shoulds.
You know, all the “I should be showing up in my business like xyz,” or “I should be doing what this biz coach says.” You need to do what your gut is telling you. Full stop.
2. Don’t niche down TOO far.
I had put all my eggs into Instagram, a platform that I DID NOT OWN. That realization made me really rethink my business model. It was too specific and the fact that if my Instagram account ever got shut down for any reason, because let’s be honest, ish happens, or Insta itself shut down, then my entire business would crumble.
3. Embrace the change
It’s ok to change your business. In fact, change is really a necessity to thrive, so don’t be afraid of it. If something feels off, don’t fight it, EXPLORE it!
4. It’s ok to pause.
This was the hardest one for me…it felt MASSIVELY UNCOMFORTABLE taking time off and I didn’t even plan it. I woke up one day and it felt as though a giant boulder was standing in front of me and any content I was putting out there…yikes. Giving myself permission to pause until I was able to redefine my business was the crucial step in getting back into alignment for me.

Today I woke up feeling awful.
The imposter syndrome and negative feelings that were coming up felt like they were going to consume me!
“I’m not doing enough in my business.”
“Why am I not further along.”
“I don’t have any value to offer.”
No matter where you are in your business journey, you will encounter these feelings at some point, and here’s a few things I recommend doing when it does happen.
1. Pause - There is so much power in pausing!!! Before you do anything, just pause. Maybe go for a walk, or listen to some music. Don’t act, just pause. Allow the feelings to come without judgement and sit with them for a minute.
2. Ask for help - Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Maybe it’s time to hire a VA, or maybe your partner/husband/wife can take the kids for an hour so you can have a break. You are allowed to take a step back. Even though it feels like it, your world will not collapse if you have some down time. I promise.
3. Prioritize your to do list - Look at your list and cross everything off that doesn’t have a deadline for that day. For me, that meant everything but two client projects I’m working on. Everything else was crossed off.
4. Get inspired! - do something, anything, that puts a smile on your face. Maybe it’s shopping online, or browsing pinterest, or baking a cake. Whatever it is, prioritize this and make it happen.
5. Know that it will pass - we ALL encounter these feelings as business owners and even though it feels like this is the last straw, I promise you will feel better again soon.
