Analog Cookbook is accepting submissions for Issue 7!

The 7th issue of Analog Cookbook, titled Analog Erotica, looks at s*xuality, erotic imagery, and pornography’s contributions to radical artistic practices.

We are currently seeking artists, pornographers, educators, and s*x workers, working in analog media with themes of s*xuality in their practice to contribute to our forthcoming issue. We welcome analog visual submissions, recipes, techniques, processes, stories and essays, from folks in various states of their careers to engage in conversation with one another.

Deadline: January 3rd, 2023

Analog Cookbook is currently seeking submissions for our 6th issue. This issue has an open theme (meaning submit whatever you’ve got) and is expected to arrive in Fall/Winter 2022.

Submit your favorite darkroom recipe, essay about analog filmmaking, and moving image and photo works on non-digital formats. Things we typically publish:

Filminism and the Body: S*x Work, Agency, and Boundaries in Film is a 2 day event presented by the Intersectional Media Lab at UNC Wilmington. Through screenings and roundtable discussions, scholars, filmmakers, and intimacy coordinators will discuss the politics of q***r and womxn representation in filmmaking, s*x work, and creating safe spaces on set when shooting with material that involves nudity, s*xual intimacy, LGBTQ+ issues, s*xual violence, and other sensitive material.

Analog Cookbook Issue 4: Emily Van Loan talks film process in their essay reticulation as a tool for q***ring the body.
“I employed a technique called reticulation, which involves boiling the film with soda ash (also known as washing soda or sodium carbonate). I boiled a pot of water (an action I link with s*xuality in my film A Watched C**t Never Cums3) and add an amount of soda ash (the more you add, the faster and less controlled the reticulation becomes). I then placed my images (of my body in solo pleasure) into the pot and stir.”
