We sent out lyrics and paint to filmmakers all over to paint their interpretation of those lyrics. The result—a music video with over 60 directors.

Big thanks to Death Valley Girls and for being down. And of course who packaged, scanned, and edited the film. 🎞️

We’re extending our All Recipes submission deadline to June 15. More time to cook something up!

We are thrilled to announce that we’re now accepting submissions for the next issue of Analog Cookbook.

This “All Recipes” issue will serve as a collective resource: a curated compilation of analog media recipes, techniques, and tutorials. Drawing inspiration from Helen Hill’s legendary text Recipes for Disaster—which brought together 37 experimental filmmakers to share handcrafted, home-grown processes—we aim to foster a similar spirit of generosity, experimentation, and open exchange.

“Shooting on film forces you to slow down, treat your resources with sacredness, and take stock of your limitations. I’ve always been a big advocate for limitations. I think they can push your art forward into more imaginative places and force you to uncover elements you might have otherwise missed.”

This month’s newsletter features filmmaker and editor Ace McColl. Ace recently shot 16mm documentary Dancing with Jimmy, in which she uses 16mm film to explore dance and unexpected strategies for living with disabilities.

Featured in this month’s newsletter:

Spotlight on artist and musician .0 who recently collaborated with eight filmmakers to create the visual album MAINEVENTGIRL. Filmmakers Alec Gessert, Tristan Turner, Jack Deal, Fluxxss, Flex Ariani, Zoe Chronis and Cole James, were provided with music and only basic cues as to what the broader project entailed (the keyword being glitch).

Jude talks about her process and what’s next for her. Check out it out in the newsletter (link up top to subscribe).

MAINEVENTGIRL screened at Modern Love in Wilmington, North Carolina to a packed crowd.
