Simplicissimus A German weekly satirical magazine published between 1896 and 1967 It reopened in 1954 but finally closed in 1967.

Simplicissimus was a German weekly satirical magazine critical of government, industrialists and others in power. It is likely to be the only publication that got away with lampooning both Kaiser Wilhelm and Hi**er, and was put out of action in 1944 not by Hi**er but by Allied bombing of its offices in Munich and pressure to cease publication from the Minister of Propaganda, Josef Goebbels. Its witty cartoons capturing the mood of the day are much sought after collectors items.
