Picture from a session that I did with classical pianist Hal Freedman years ago. He brought the music to show me how the dynamics of the piece should flow when mastering which is a very rare occurrence for me. If it was a Metal band it would have probably just had read fortississimo throughout.

Today is the 22nd anniversary of The Mastering House Inc. It's been an amazing journey working with some of the best artists I've ever heard and have been honored to be a part of the process.

The pic below is from the old studio where things got started. They say that the building was haunted, I like to think there are still remnants of the music made echoing there.

A stunning video from Elsie Binx. Excellent job from producer Kevin Wesley Williams and the band. There was a ton of work that went into this not only musically and visually, but also getting that old piano to the church. I'm proud to have played a small part in its production.

Noise isn’t always a bad thing. It can be used to actually improve audio quality (for example dither in digital systems) or used for creative purposes. Here’s a page from an old Arp Axxe manual that I found while cleaning up on how it’s used to create that random sample and hold sound popular back in the ‘70s with songs like Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good”, The Who’s “Relay” and others.
