Officer was going 100 mph seconds before crash that killed couple

The officer was chasing a suspect on U.S. 40 in August 2024 when he slammed into the driver's side of a car, killing Barbara and Bennie Williams.

PLAINFIELD, Ind. — A report by Avon police says a Plainfield officer chasing a suspect was going 100 mph seconds before a crash that killed a couple from Clayton, Indiana, in August 2024.

According to the report, the officer slammed on the brakes 2.5 seconds before impact but still hit the driver's side of the car going almost 60 miles an hour.

Two former Louisville police officers involved in Breonna Taylor raid have been indicted again

The U.S. Department of Justice has filed new charges against two former Louisville police officers already facing federal crimes in connection with the fatal raid on Breonna Taylor's home in 2020.

The so-called “superseding” indictments come a little more than a month after a judge's dismissal of the most serious charges against former Louisville Metro Police Detectives Joshua Jaynes and Sgt. Kyle Meany.

Jaynes and Meany are accused of providing and lying about false information in a search warrant used by police to burst into Taylor's house, resulting in her death.

In the new indictments, the prosecutors amended the original indictments, adding additional allegations in hopes of getting around the judge's ruling.

Jaynes and Meany will have to be arraigned again, with a scheduled court date on Oct. 18.

Both are currently released on bond.

Former Hernando s buchool resource officer arrested for r**e, sexual assault, DA says

A former Hernando Police Department (HPD) officer has bonded out of jail after being arrested and charged with r**e and sexual assault, according to DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton.

His bond was set at $50,000.

Barton announced the charges against former officer Hosie Porter on Monday, September 30. A statement from HPD said that the department was made aware of the charges on Tuesday, September 24.

Porter was on-duty and working as a school resource officer for the DeSoto County School District at the time of the alleged crime.

Deliberations resume Monday in trial of former Warren, Ohio police officer charged with multiple r**es

A jury will resume deliberations Monday after failing to reach a decision Friday in the case of a fired Warren City police officer, Michael Edward's Jr. who is accused of ra**ng several women and described by prosecutors as a "serial ra**st."

After deliberating for nearly seven hours on Friday, no verdict was reached and the jurors were sent home for the weekend.

During closing arguments on Thursday, the prosecution reminded the jury of the testimony from the victims. Prosecutor Gabe Wildman said Edwards "preyed on [Victim #1] like a shark" and reiterated the power dynamic between Edwards and his victims.

"[Edwards] loves the fact that he's a police officer. He can order people around, summon them and they have to listen to him," Wildman said.

Birmingham Police Officer jailed, charged with domestic violence

A Birmingham Police Officer has been arrested and charged with domestic violence.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, a woman reported on September 19, 2024 that an incident had occurred involving her "on and off" boyfriend who is an officer with the Birmingham Police Department.

Justin Bisharat, 28, was identified as the suspect and placed on a 48-hour felony extension and the Birmingham City Jail.

Off-duty Eugene police officer charged with strangling a woman

A Eugene police officer was arraigned Wednesday in Lane County Circuit Court on domestic violence-related charges after allegedly strangling a woman while off duty on Sept. 7.

According to court documents, Joshua West, 40, was charged with one count of felony strangulation - constituting domestic violence and two counts of recklessly endangering another person.

In April 5, 2016 West was charged with D.U.I.

Troopers had been summoned to the area by Wests female passenger, who had called 911 and said that West had thrown his gun and badge into her lap and told her to shoot him. West denied making the statement.

The trooper who conducted the field sobriety test is heard voicing doubts on the video recording about Wests ability to drive before deciding to drive West home and taking Wests personal handgun.

North Ridgeville, Ohio police officer arrested on domestic violence charges

According to the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, Aaron Neff was booked on Aug. 24 and released on bond the following day.

Two of his charges — domestic violence and aggravated menacing — are first degree misdemeanors, while the third, resisting arrest, is a second degree misdemeanor.

An Akron police officer has been arrested on charges of child po*******hy.

According to police, the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigations took Geoffrey Parker into custody on Friday.

He has been charged with multiple counts of Pandering Obscenity of a Minor and Illegal Use of a Minor in Nudity-Oriented material, say police.

Parker has been on the force for four years and has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Pittsburgh police officer accused of strangling ex-wife, placed on administrative leave

A warrant is out for the arrest of a Pittsburgh police officer accused of strangling his ex-wife and attacking a man at her house.

Willie Arnold, a Zone 6 officer, allegedly attacked his ex-wife in May. He has since been placed on paid administrative leave.

The victim, who reported the incident Friday, told police she was afraid to file the report but could not live in fear any longer.

Arnold faces a list of charges, including strangulation, terroristic threats and assault.

Two CPD officers arrested, charged with criminal damage to property

Two police officers on Thursday were arrested, relieved of their police powers and charged with criminal damage to property.
Charged with one count was Deputy Chief Roberto Nieves, 53. Officer Jacob Gies, 26, was charged with two counts.

Both surrendered for arrest at the 1st District Police Station in connection with an incident that occurred on June 7, 2024, the department confirmed to WGN.

Following his arrest, Nieves was returned to his career service rank of captain.

We obtained a picture of a Peninsula, OH police officer hidden by trees in the woods, so we investigated.

“You’ve got to be kidding me. I would say they’re kind of like hunting people instead of policing". A driver stated.

Now we’re learning that before we got involved, the police chief cleared those officers of using excessive force while tasing the man.

19 Investigates obtained the Action Response Report, which is essentially a use of force form, that Officer Paige Mitchell filed to justify tasing Raul Ortiz on May 11, 2023.

That form shows how Chief William Pelko cleared the officers of wrongdoing in regard to the taser, days after the incident occurred.

Casper police officer arrested Friday after ‘criminal incident’/armed standoff

An off-duty Casper Police Department officer who was dealing with a personal crisis was involved in a criminal incident at an apartment complex from Thursday night to Friday afternoon, according to a press release from the Casper Police Department on Monday.

No reported injures occurred and the officer was lawfully arrested.

Social media video shows Canton officer kicking suspect who was on ground, police chief responds

The department says 21-year-old Jaemiier McElroy 'appeared to be complying' when he was kicked by Officer Brandon Momirov. An investigation is underway.

Controversy over video on social media showing a Canton police officer kicking a suspect led to some tense moments at a City Council meeting Monday night.

Police Chief John Gabbard has confirmed the veracity of the video. The man who was kicked has since been charged with obstruction and resisting arrest, despite authorities saying he was complying with officers' orders.

The footage shows the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jaemiier McElroy, kneeling on the ground with his hands in the air while surrounded by other officers. As this occurs, Officer Brandon Momirov runs up and kicks McElroy in the upper body, causing McElroy to fall to the ground.

Former cop arrested for fatally shooting US Air Force airman

A former Florida sheriff's deputy who fatally shot a US Air Force member at his home has been arrested after being indicted for the death last week.

Eddie Duran, 38, was charged on Friday with manslaughter with a firearm in the death of 23-year-old Roger Fortson but was not taken into custody at the time.

The incident last May occurred when Mr Duran attempted to enter Fortson's home while responding to a domestic disturbance call at his apartment complex.

If he is convicted, the felony charge against the former police officer carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison.

Benjamin Travis Hopson, 34, was booked on Sunday into the Richmond County jail for an incident on Aug. 12.

Police: Cranston officer arrested for urinating on woman during concert

A Cranston police officer was arrested by Foxboro police on Saturday night after allegedly urinating on a woman at a concert.

Shane Lynch, who was off-duty at the time, reportedly urinated on the woman’s shoes while in the pit at Gillette Stadium.

When event security arrived, police said Lynch began urinating again, leading to his arrest and removal from the venue.

The police report said Lynch appeared “extremely intoxicated.”
