We already have a few art/design editors but are looking for someone to lead them and become our Art/Design Editor-in-Chief. This person would be responsible for designing the issues of our magazine twice a year with help from the other members of the design team, whom they would be directing. In the past we have used Adobe InDesign to lay out the issues (and we have templates you can use) but if you'd prefer another software that's fine too—we're willing to give you a lot of creative freedom in this position as our design process is not set in stone. We highly prefer you have some kind of design experience with a publication of some kind, whether that's a zine you make yourself, your high school newspaper, or another lit mag on campus. You and your team will also be selecting the art for each issue from the art submissions we get. We will walk you through how the design process has been done in the past and give you clear guidance and deadlines—we just ask that you be responsible, a self-starter, and creative!

As an editor, you'll meet with the rest of the editorial team weekly to go over creative nonfiction/memoir prose and poetry submissions that have landed in the MH inbox. Together we vote on whether to accept, reject, or waitlist submissions and then each editor is assigned to 1-3 authors (depending on submission volume) who they work on edits with over email and/or through Google Docs. We love to see some editing and writing experience but if you're a newbie to lit mags that's okay too!

UChicago students! Memoryhouse is accepting applications to join our board!! We're looking to bring on 4 new poetry/prose editors and 1 new art/design Editor-in-Chief for the remainder of this year (and into next year, if you're not graduating).
Both applications are due JANUARY 8TH at MIDNIGHT. Each team has its own application. The positions are linked below along with their descriptions.
