Yareta is a cushion plant that thrives in the cold grasslands of Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile at altitudes between 10,000 and 15,000 ft above sea level.

Many of these plants are estimated to be over 3,000 years old, as they grow extremely slowly at a geological pace of 1.5 cm a year to conserve internal heat and moisture. They are highly tolerant to abiotic stress; it’s also believed that they can heal degraded soils and act as a foundation for alpine ecosystems.

82y. has built a massive rock collection over a 53 years, making his finds along the Adige River in Verona, Italy. He doesn’t alter the rocks at all. Many resemble faces, animals and fish.

Now online: Sam Falls grew frustrated at the fixation with formats — and the argument between film and digital. “It was pretty much an obnoxious debate and, I thought, superfluous to art in general. I felt that photography had always been segregated from fine art — even at the MoMA. This barn was built in Norway in 1885. The owner, Lars Petter Olsen Valdall spent the next seven years building this grassy ramp by himself. It even included an arch so he could reach other barns on the property.
