Congratulations Class of 2024!
Sending love, sunshine, and hugs to all the mothers!
Looking north across Valley Street to Dickson town.
"Dixon Town"
Started by freeman Isaac Dickson who relocated to Asheville from Shelby after he was emancipated. With a small loan and an incredible work ethic he purchased the former slave quarters of the Patton's on what's currently south Charlotte St. behind city hall. He leased land to other freemen, creating businesses and eventually a neighborhood for the black community. It was dubbed 'dixon town' by its residents.
Commutation Campaign to end NCโs death penalty!

Following the film, Jean Parks, who lost her sister to homicide, will offer comments during a Q&A session. Nationally award-winning poet and NCCADP Community Engagement Coordinator Nick Courmon will also offer spoken word.
The evening will be moderated by North Carolina Coalition for Alternatives to the Death Penalty director Noel Nickle, and will conclude with a call to action to write Gov. Cooper asking him to commute all death sentences.
Doors will open at 5pm for refreshments.
