📷 There’s been some changes to image sizes on Instagram. We are no longer bound by the square post sizing which is good and bad.
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first.
A lot of people are starting to post more landscape size images which are known to not perform as well. One of the reasons why? They don’t take up space and catch the eye.
The good news?
We can now play around with vertical style image in feed. And these take up more space. Ultimately what insights are showing is that the vertical image gives you the most impact in the stream. It catches the eye.
So how do you create these images?
You can resize to the 4:5 ratio in most photo editing tools (even one on your iPhone).
Not sure how to do this? Send me a DM and I’ll show you how.

🍋 Well, I have been wanting to do this episode of the Perfectly Imperfect Social podcast for a while now! When I first started this podcast, I made a list of some of my dream guests. Rachel, the founder of @makelemonadeco, was one of them.
So, you can imagine my excitement when she said yes to my podcast interview request! 👇
In this episode we talk about all things entrepreneurship and social media. Make Lemonade is one of my favourite social media presences, so I was curious to know how Rachel went about building it!
And if you aren’t following them make sure you do! Their Get Sh*t Done Club is also a great option for female entrepreneurs to find the support they are looking for (and to get connected with an awesome group)!
🎤 Are you a social media disruptor? if you are this episode of the Perfectly Imperfect Social podcast is for you!
I admit I do like to ruffle a bit of social media feathers every now and then 😉. I do enjoy sharing things that people may be thinking about (but too afraid to say them!).
To help me have this conversation, I’ve invited Emily Edwards, founder of @thegoodbirthco, on the podcast. Tune in to find out how Emily is disrupting the birth professionals industry (in a good way!) and helping people have the childbirth experience they want.
Over the last year or so, I’ve been reflecting more and more on how social media strategies shift depending on the industry you work in. While I’m a big believer in embracing your imperfections and not having everything picture perfect, there are some industries that do still lend themselves more to a polished look. One of them is design.
To help us have this conversation, I chat to Tamara Robbins Griffith (@tamararobbinsg) She’s a regular guest expert on @cityline , a fellow podcaster and partner in @kerrandfield design. We talk about Tamara’s own entrepreneurial journey and what it means to create a social media presence that is reflective of your business values and what you stand for personally.
Make sure you give Tamara a follow and check out her own podcast over @curlnextdoorpodcast!
In this episode, I have the pleasure of talking to Faye (@faye_moxam). Faye is currently based in Prince Edward County and works as a real estate agent. When I initially reached out to Faye for this interview it was to hear her perspective on what a good social media presence looks like for realtors and the real estate industry. However, there are a few surprises in this interview and I discover that there is a whole lot more to talk about with Faye. I know that you’ll be as inspired as I was when you hear her story. You really are never too old to try something new.
Thank you Faye for being on the podcast! ❤️
A few podcast episodes ago, we looked at how to post photos of your kids safely online. Now, I’m switching gears and looking at what parents can do to keep their kids safe online. In this episode I talk to Fareedah Shaheed (@cyberfareedah), an online safety educator. Her mission is to help parents protect their kids online.
We cover a lot of ground in this episode and also discover that we have a lot in common that we didn’t know before this episode. By the end of the episode, you’ll have a better understanding of how to keep your kids safe in an increasingly digital world and what conversation you should be having with them.
Fareedah has a lot of great resources that can be found on her website so make sure you tap the link in her bio on her account!
And a big thank you to Fareedah for being a podcast guest!
I hope you still love me 😉 but the truth is we all scroll and we all most likely say we never have enough time in the day to do the things we want.
Now I’m all for a good scroll at times and don’t think you need to go cold turkey but…
What if you replaced one day of time spent scrolling with content creation instead? Something to think about 😉
When was the last time you looked at your website? It has probably been awhile if you’re anything like me. I know that sometimes we can get wrapped up in the world of social media and forget about our other marketing channels. This episode is a good reminder to take a look at your website!
I’m joined in this episode by Avigayil Basser, a website copywriter and founder of @alignedcopyco. She shares some of her easy fixes for website copy and to really bring these tips to life we look at my own website! You’ll hear a live walkthrough of some of the mistakes I’m making and what I should be doing about them. You don’t want to miss it!
Are there any original ideas anymore? Let me know what you think in the comments! 👇
In todays #PerfectlyImperfectSocial podcast episode, I explore a topic that has been on my mind for awhile. The idea of originality. Are there any original ideas anymore? I often find that social media brings up feelings of “that person copied my content”, but did they really?
Mel, a self-declared “word nerd” and founder of Tripod Business Services (@mel.the.word.nerd), joins me as I delve into this area and wonder if every love story we’ve ever seen is really just an updated version of “Romeo & Juliet”. ❤️
💡 Do you post photos (or content) of your kids on social media? If you do, it may be time to make some changes to how you post and what you post.
I know as a parent this is something I’ve been thinking about more and more.
In today’s episode I talk to Claire Rodahaver (@clairerodahaver) about online photo safety. We focus specifically on what you can do as a parent and by the end of the episode you should have some tips on what to post and what photos to avoid posting. We also chat about what this may mean for the world of parenting influencers.
Claire is a North Carolina-based legacy photographer and also specializes in online photo safety. Make sure you give her a follow she has some amazing tips and resources!
One of the questions I see a lot in the women’s entrepreneur groups I’m in is around virtual assistants or as I have come to know VAs. I’ll be honest, I never knew what a VA is and what they can do for you before entering this world!
To help demystify the world of virtual assistants and how to find one, I chat with Danielle Kelly. Danielle is the founder of Keen Office Management.
👯♀️ I’m going to say it. If we are all searching for the same trending audio and being inspired by the latest trends (ahem red flags that I love so much), it is bound to happen. For the most part it is ok, but…
I’ve been thinking a lot about the idea of originality a lot lately and wondering if “Any idea is really new?” Or are we all just repurposing and putting our spin on already done ideas?
What do you think? Can ideas still be original?
🎧 New Perfectly Imperfect Social podcast episode! In this episode I chat with Lindsay Smith about why we need to stop over-thinking our social media content. We also talk about the changing definition of what content actually is. Hint...it’s not just written these days.
Lindsay is a copy coach and runs her own business. She focuses on coaching other business owners on how to use copywriting strategies to show up on social media with confidence and create content with ease.
She hangs out over @mostlyshowered on IG so make sure to give her some love!
