A group of 100 families arrived into Bangladesh 15 days ago escaping ongoing persecution in Rakhine state. These are now being placed in a school of Kutupalong registered refugee camp, Cox's bazar by local authorities. Authorities and NGO/INGOs are providing vital food and necessary non food items. Our team had a chance to get a short video clip from one of the concerned family members where she said, " I am from Nazi para (village) of Sittwe. we can not go out for marketing. We can not go out to fetch water from near by brook. We are not allowed to go out for fishing purpose into the river and stream. We had been completely entrapped in our only village by local Rakhine extdimists, local authorities and Tehdmattaw(Myanmar army). We are feeling safe being here inside Bangladesh and thankful to Bangladesh and NGOs for taking care of us".
ArakhanEye did write about the persecution they were facing in Sittwe. As international communities says 'genocide still ongoing in Arakhan state', these families' escape from persecution in Rakhine state is the latest example of ongoing genocide in Rakhine state, Myanmar.
