Dina Fareed Jendeya and Karan Jendeya are living in the rubble of their home in Gaza with their four children. A world away, Heidi and Mahmoud Soliman are raising money alongside other metro residents to feed Palestinian children like Hala, Jenna, Tala and Anis Jendeya. The Solimans, of Fargo, are rallying their neighbors to donate to the Feed a Child in Gaza program through the Maal Foundation, a nonprofit started by two Fargo doctors. Owen Piehl’s friends call him “Regular Al Yankovic.” The Fargo musician and lead singer of the local band, Tailspin, is getting lots of buzz lately for his parodies in the spirit of the wild-haired, accordion-pumping Yankovic. “Where is My Zyn?” Piehl’s pitch-perfect parody of the Pixies’ indie-rock classic, “Where is My Mind?” has gone viral. It has racked up over 4 million views on TikTok and over 100,000 streams on Spotify. When Piehl’s version of “Where Is My Zyn?' started trending on TikTok last spring, a representative from California record label Hallwood Media contacted him and signed him to write and record an EP of parody songs. For most of the past 30 years, Drew Bartelson's job has been driving a truck. Twice in the past, Bartelson has competed in a national truck driving competition and he will do so again in August after winning the grand champion title at the North Dakota Motor Carriers Association's annual truck driving championships in June. This year, Bartelson will compete in the tanker truck category at nationals, the same category he took first-place in during the state competition. Nationals will be held Aug. 21-24 in Indianapolis.
