Hey Everyone
Its been a while but this is something we feel is very important

Football is a game of passion and from this not only does it create strong rivalries on the odd occasion it creates some beautiful friendships with people from other clubs

For Josh and Ben since the inception of Western United football Club and the Western Service Crew this has been the case. We were lucky enough 3 year ago to host the lads from the All Out West Podcast Caleb, Wallace and Jay on the Smashing Crossbar Podcast and from that moment they have always welcomed us with open arms

In football some things are sacred, the pre game pub you drink in, your active support bay and the march from the pub to the stadium every game. Due to our friendship with these guys Josh and Ben have been privileged enough to drink in their pub, march with them to the ground and even sit in their active support bay whilst adorned in full Newcastle Jets gear without even being looked at sideways or abuse hurled at us because of the openness and friendship we share

Over the past few months for those deep in the football community it’s been no secret that one of our friends, member of the Western Service Crew and previous podcast guest, Jay Sutcliffe has been battling with cancer

And it is with a heavy heart that we wish to inform you, our subscribers, friends and viewers that our good friend Jay has lost his battle with cancer.

From all our viewers and both Josh and Ben, Crossbar Capers wishes to offer Jay’s family and friends our deepest condolences and best wishes whilst trying to navigate through this difficult time.

Hope to see everyone on Saturday afternoon get the kids involved and gather up all there old teddy bears so they can throw them on the pitch for a great cause.

Alright Newy it's time for our Annual Christmas Teddy Bear Toss which will be happening in 2
WEEKS on Saturday the 16th of December at home against Perth Glory.

This year we will be donating all of the teddy's to the Samaritan's and HNE kids charity's. These charity's will be giving out the teddy's to children in need for Christmas.

This year there won't be any teddy's available to be purchased at the ground like previous years, so can you please ensure that you bring a teddy to the game to participate in the toss.

We ask that due to Health reason's that all teddy's are new with the tag left on and put into a zip lock bag before being tossed. So we encourage the teddy's be small to medium so they can fit.

This event is a special event close to our hearts so we ask you all to spread the word and get as many teddy's tossed as possible so we can make as many children in need feel special this Christmas!

As most of you know mental health is a massive thing to me and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity of doing this when I saw it.

I’ve decided that this October I will be wearing a 10kg vest for ALL of my running training which will be roughly 50-60kms a week if not more to raise funds for men’s mental health.

I will even also match the amount of money that has been raised in the first month of fundraising (end of September) as it’s the right thing to do and it’s a great cause.

I don’t often ask for this type of stuff but any donation would be thankful and would go a long way even a share of this post would mean the world so more people can see it. (Luke Gibbons)
