Thunderchild Publishing Publishing science fiction and historic naval fiction eBooks from the Golden Age to the Modern Age

Thunderchild Publishing was started with the intent to put back into "print" science fiction from the 1940's and 1950's that had inspired the publisher's life-long passion for the genre. The special focus was on the books originally published as the Winston Science Fiction series. Thunderchild's catalog has expanded to include some select contemporary science fiction, military fiction and nonfiction, and other genres like crime thrillers.

I have started another small press enterprise, Red Planet Press. The scope will be very limited, basically the books I have written myself and some public domain books I like (so I don't have to deal with paying royalties or reporting to the IRS). I've made a new FB page here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61558887171992

This is a small press to publish my own writing and a selection of public domain works that I like.

You may have noticed that there hasn't been much activity on this page for a while. There will be less in the future. I have sold Thunderchild Publishing to Wildside Press. Wildside intends to continue the Thunderchild name as an imprint and will be publishing many of the same titles that I published. If I can figure out how to turn this page over to Wildside, I will offer it to them and they may find use for it.

For everyone who has followed this page, let me say that it has been a real pleasure to create and run Thunderchild. I was able to rescue many older books from obscurity and make them available again. And I gave a few living writers their first publications, too. Unfortunately, my age and recent serious medical issues have led me, reluctantly, to decide it is time to cease publication. I am glad that Thunderchild will be continued in a recognizable form by Wildside.

Thunderchild was started to get books from the Winston SF Series back into print. Initially, that included all of the books for Winston written by Lester del Rey. But when the Del Rey copyrights were purchased from the estate, the new owner requested that I withdraw four of the titles from publication as he was negotiating a publishing deal with Del Rey Books. The deal did not go through and after many years of being out-of-print I've been authorized to re-release them. The first to go live is MOON OF MUTINY, one of my favorites from the Winston series. After a disastrous first flight to the Moon, young Fred Halpern gets a second chance to prove himself. The resulting journey is thrilling and dangerous with the potential for success balanced against death.
