With a long and winding career working with Kris Menace, remixing the likes of Depeche Mode and LCD Soundsystem, being remixed by Deadmau5, composing filmmusic,the Munich-based producer Philip Leroi now lands his Atlantic Brain-project for a full EP on Internasjonal. He has previously contributed to our Internasjonal Space Station Compilation 1.
Wonder-boy Alan Dixon contributes with not less than 2 remixes of “Brother” while Prins Thomas helped tighten the mixdown slightly. Internasjonal HQ September 2023

Das Komplex's "Pillow Stories" on the best new singles list over at Juno Records!

"Polish producer Marcin Lukaszewicz never fails to impress with his far-reaching and imaginatively-spun releases forged under his familiar Das Komplex moniker. Having crafted a stream of extraordinarily high-quality titles for the likes of Love On The Rocks, Luv Shack, and Father & Son Records & Tapes, he now shows up on Prins Thomas and Kai Fraeger’s ever wonderful Internasjonal with a delicious four-track EP. Throughout his seven-plus years of vinyl purveying, it’s never been easy to predict exactly what musical forms will emerge from the Das Komplex studio, but it’s a safe bet to say whatever sonic morsels he delivers will be thoroughly engaging. From slo-mo Balearic and tripped-out cosmic to sparkling nu-disco and dusty deep house, his expansive sound feels like a neat fit for the refined Internasjonal fold, and so it proves to be the case on the ‘Pillow Stories’ EP.
The title track struts along over a percussive deep disco groove, with simmering bass driving snarling synths, rhythm guitar and shimmering chords across a delay-laden backdrop. Veering into slightly more brooding territory, ‘Gdziekolwiek’ unfolds over a hypnotic bass groove. Atmospheric guitar motifs are joined by funk synths before a growling acid line emerges from the shadows, propelling the cut into a hands-in-the-air nocturnal fervour. On the flip, the air is thick as the infectious rhythms of ‘Onomatopeja Slimacza’ welcome rousing horns and phasing synths, chugging along with purpose as the undulating groove rolls over an intriguing seven-minute backroom flex. Finally, the snarling synths and heavy bass of ‘By The Hand’ sees familiar disco refrains reimagined through a gorgeously distorted lens, closing the no-filler EP in wonderfully saucer-eyed style. Each track is a winner here, with ‘Pillow Stories’ sure to score points with lovers of colourful cosmic capers. Exquisite work from Das Komplex and very highly recommended."

“Given his love of dub disco, dusty samples, skewed house and all things cosmic, it's arguably surprising that Pillow Talk marks Das Komplex's first appearance on Prins Thomas and Kai Fraeger's Internasjonal label. It's less of a surprise to find that the EP - featured here in extended six-track form (the vinyl version only has four) - is a belter. For proof, check the cowbell-sporting, bass guitar-heavy, piano stab-showcasing dub disco chug of 'Pillow Stories', the effects-laden, edits-not-edit early morning disco fun of 'Onomatopeaja Slimacza' and the pitched-down brilliance of 'By The Hand', a breathlessly heavy, percussion-rich slab of Afro-disco/dub disco fusion that makes great use of sneaky samples. 'Nawet' and 'Parawany', both of which are very Prins Thomas style space disco workouts, are also well worth a listen.”

An apt title for this three-tracker from Nicolas Saavedra, who hails from Bogota, Colombia where he co-runs the Nomada label and is resident at the city's Kaputt club. Brought to you by Thomas and Fraeger's Internasjonal, 'Space' itself is a slo-mo disco chugger with much use of sci-fi synth sounds and a suitably expansive feel. The other two cuts operate in similar stylistic territory, with the throbbing 'Danza' nodding just ever so slightly to EBM/new beat/industrial influences, while 'Lluvia' has an almost S-Express like feel in parts, not to mention a distinctive bassy, heavily treated gurgle that'll give it a little extra attention-grabbing impact. Good stuff!

We don't, for the past month or two, seem to be experiencing quite the deluge of cosmic/Italo-inspired material that's defined the contemporary disco scene for the past few years. If you think that's a bad thing, though, then fear not because here come REES and Millions Of Dead Sequencer to sort you right out, matey. There are two very faithful-sounding originals to choose from - the pacey, driving 'Steel In Space' and lower-tempo squelcher 'Awake Us' - and with both packing rerubs from the mighty Prins Thomas, this is one that lovers of the style won't want to miss.

"More multi-artist antics from Internasjonal's compilation style Space Station series, which debuted in December 2021 via a three-track missive of chunky, intergalactic house and melody-rich space disco. The headline-grabbing track here is undoubtedly Shubostar's 'Acuario', an insanely positive blend of undulating synthesizer arpeggio lines, glistening melodies and unfussy drum machine beats that's subsequently given a more driving and druggy makeover from Internasjonal co-founder Prins Thomas. Elsewhere, Vibe Impact's 'Italica' is a thrillingly positive, saucer-eyed chunk of sunrise-ready Italo-disco revivalism and Nhar's 'Obsidian Order' is a warming chunk of star-fall nu-disco of the sort that would not sound out of place on Prins Thomas's other label, Full Pupp."
