X FAULT Magazine COVER SHOOT OUT NOW on FAULT-Magazine.com

After studying composition at NYU Steinhardt, Tanis started her music career in film scoring before COVID struck. With the film industry largely shut down, it gave her a chance to reflect and pursue a burning ambition to be a singer-songwriter.

Today marks the release of Tanis' new EP, Just Some Stories. We sat down with her to discuss the EP, the challenges of being an introverted performer, and growing through life experiences.

FAULT Magazine X

LA-based duo Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton, aka Electric Guest, released their debut album, Mondo, back in 2012 – a time when indie rock ruled the roost and most bands were regularly churning out familiar, formulaic hits.

Meanwhile, Electric Guest went 5 years before following Mondo with their vastly different sophomore album, Plural (2017). 2019's KIN represented an even bigger change of direction. Fast forward six years, and Electric Guest have just released 10K amidst competition from AI 'artists' throwing down algorithmically-created track after track.

So if you're looking for consistency, go listen to an identikit indie-rock release from the late 00s-10s. If you want a predictable band programmed to provoke brand loyalty, give AI a try. But if you want to hear an artist searching for their voice, at times struggling with their creativity, then go and listen to Electric Guest. Their discography tells a story, one that started with $10k and (for now) culminates in 10K...

FAULT Magazine X

At a fledgling 23 years of age, POV social media star turned loud-and-proud rock singer Bailey Spinn hadn't even been born by the time seminal '00s albums like former FAULT cover star 's Let Go hit the shelves.

Still, it's small wonder she feels drawn to a style of music that wears its heart on its sleeve: the socially conscious songstress is a major advocate for authenticity and emotional vulnerability.

Her recent single, 'fear of going out', sees Bailey Spinn bring her approach to mental health advocacy to her community. It's a rallying cry for radical honesty and personal empowerment: an impassioned plea to take ownership of your emotional wellbeing and embrace yourself – FAULTs and all. See what we did there...?
