The diagram illustrates the transformations that took place in the town of Harborne from 1936 to 2007.
Overall, the town of Harborne underwent a number of dramatic alterations in its landscape and infrastructure throughout the period shown, the most important of which are the developments of the residential area and more shops.
In the northwest of the town, most of the trees were cut down. The southwest also observed a change with the bicycle track being turned into a road. In the heart of the town, the post office, the bank, and the library stayed the same, while in the northern section, a supermarket was constructed at the expense of the candy shop and the butchers, and the flower shop was redeveloped as a travel agent. In addition, the introduction of a shopping center in the middle of the town overtook the untouched natural land.
In the northeast of the downtown area, there used to be a river, but it was then reconstructed into a lake, which was accompanied by a residential area. Meanwhile, significant changes were witnessed by the southeast, with the government being transformed into a museum and the golf course being erected, replacing the farmland.
