The Hulu plant (Calabash Gourd) is cultural symbol believed to bring luck, health and happiness in Chinese culture. In ancient times the Hulu was hollowed out and used to hold precious objects.. The name “HULU RECORDS” was put together by the company founders, DJ/Producer SYN (UK) and Fillo Marzo (Germany) .The idea came from a Chinese kung fu movie they watched together after a gig one nig
ht. Both full of passion for music and Chinese culture, they decided to use HULU as the name of their underground Techno music project and a month later HULU was born, holding it’s first ever party in Berlin. A unique MINIMAL TECHNO DUBSTEP sound made for a popular electronic music label and party organization grew amongst university students in London’s famous East End. By 2008 HULU RECORDS’ SYN, FILLO and CHRIS was already playing at large outdoor music festivals throughout the UK, Germany, Italy and France. Wrapping things up for summer, they headed out to China, and met up with their old friend MOYU down south on Hainan Island from which point they fell in love with the captivating sound of the ocean and decided to bring HULU RECORDS to China! As of Summer 2011, HULU RECORDS China branch has brought together the premier Techno talent the middle kingdom has to offer setting up base in Sanya with artists spread across Kunming, Chengdu and Beijing.
