As proud community partners with , we are very excited for their first annual Shero's Rise Summit: The Butterfly effect - Evolve HerStory on October 14th, 2023 at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Tickets are available at their website, link is in 's bio!

Shero’s Rise began as a conversation between two mothers over a cup of tea. Sonali Perera Bridges and Margaret Buckley discussed how they needed to teach their girls more than the basic curriculum taught in schools in order to help them to feel confident about themselves, teach them the importance of their voice, while also being respectful, how to deal with their ever-changing emotions, and how to make informed choices. Shero’s Rise focuses its mission on building a girl’s self from the inside out. If she was equipped with the self-esteem, confidence, reliance, grit, tenacity and fire to know who she was, then she could equip herself with her own invisible cape to either pause in a moment of hardship or learn how to fly higher than she ever thought was possible.

"The Butterfly Effect" is the idea that small things can have a big impact on large complex systems.
The Summit will allow all participants to be a part of the conversation on how the data regarding women and girls impacts them personally, what meaningful change matters most to them, and how they can help be a part of the solution for the women and girls in their local community.
If you are interested in becoming a vendor at their women's marketplace and a sponsor to support Shero’s Rise, visit the link in 's bio to secure a spot today!

Make sure to follow and to get your tickets for this phenomenal event!

“American Girl's latest "Girl of the Year" is a spunky Broadway-loving dancer and singer -- and also the popular doll line's first-ever South Asian main character

Kavika Sharma, Kavi for short, was unveiled Thursday as American Girl's 2023 "Girl of the Year." Unlike other American Girl dolls, "Girl of the Year" dolls are based on modern characters with contemporary stories, rather than those based in American history

Though Kavi is the first South Asian "Girl of the Year," she is not American Girl's first South Asian character. In 2009, Sonali Matthews, who was at least part South Asian, was introduced as a companion character to that year's "Girl of the Year," Chrissa Maxwell.

Since "Girl of the Year" launched in 2001, there have been three other dolls of Asian descent: Jess McConnell, who was half-Japanese, in 2006; Kanani Akina, who was part Japanese-Hawaiian, in 2011; and last year's Corinne Tan, the first Chinese American "Girl of the Year."”
